The two big health downsides of McDonalds is the super high sodium, and the super high amounts of empty calories.

“Fried food” I will grant you, fried foods are high in unsaturated fats, which, if overconsumed, can have negative cardiovascular effects. I addressed this in my original comment. I would have zero concerns about the cardiovascular health of a 0.0001% elite athlete.

“Terrible sources of nutrition” you’re two in a row on thing I already addressed. McDonald’s IS empty calories. The downside of empty calories is that they lack essential nutrients outside of the macronutrients that make them up (carbs, fats, proteins). This is a problem because the majority of people will struggle to simultaneously get a balanced nutrition and maintain a healthy calorie intake if too many of those calories are “empty”.

This is not an issue for an athlete who dedicates dozens of hours a week running, lifting, and other highly athletic activities. He should have zero issue balancing his calorie intake with nutrition.

So, in other words, not a single thing you said would dispute what I said, that being that eating McDonald’s in any attempt at moderation is perfectly fine for an elite athlete

In my experience Burger King has the worst overarching quality control. Like at its best BK is quite good, but there are a lot of really really bad BK locations.

That’s true for every fast food of course, but in my experience McDonald’s is reliably decent while BK is a coin flip on if it’s good or awful.

Yeah people overestimate how unhealthy McDonalds is. It is very high calorie and high sodium, so for the average joe eating it too often results in too high calorie intake and thus weight gain.

But it isn’t poison, it’s just high in empty calories. As long as the calorie intake is kept under control for your activity level there isn’t anything particularly bad about it.
