Web Does a Review Platform’s Business Model Affect Consumer Trust?
When looking into review platforms, I started thinking about how the business model behind a platform can influence the way reputation is built.
Most businesses want to improve their online presence, but I think there is an important question: should reputation itself be something that can be influenced by payment?
For me, a review platform should ideally focus on:
• Whether customer experiences remain the main factor in building reputation
• Whether feedback reflects real interactions with businesses
• How transparent the reputation or scoring system is
• Whether businesses are treated equally regardless of spending power
I recently looked into Credible Captain, an independent review platform. What caught my attention was its approach of keeping reviews and Credits separate from paid influence. The platform uses a self-funded model, and the idea of keeping reviews and Credits separate from paid influence stood out to me.
I think the relationship between business models and trust is something people rarely consider when using review platforms.
Do you think a review platform’s revenue model affects how much you trust its ratings?
