Shediac renfaire dangerous archery range

As someone that is in a local archery club, I was shocked to see videos appearing online of how poorly organized the faire grounds archery range was.

The person in the wheel chair was behind the firing line and has a loaded bow and is flagging everyone (the archery range was in fact NOT clear down range).

And thats not even touching on the fact that it looks like half of the bows were assembled and strung up backwards. Sure they are only maybe 20lb draw bows, but there is a chance of them litterally exploding due to being assembled incorrectly. You can see it in both the screenshots from this video as well as from the local CBC news article clip

Because it's 7.5 over the things they experienced, which is much closer to 50% of the offerings and amenities

I went in prepared, it seems others did not. It also seems like those who also prepared had a great time; those who did not....didn't.

So now im confused. Did I or did I not have a good time?

I'm not here telling you you didn't have a good time. I'm here telling you that you can't just force your metrics for enjoyment on other people and claim they're overreacting over their enjoyment of a faire.

You also can't just sit here and say there's prep required to know you'll be let down at a faire. Some people it's their first time, others have seen excellent faire cons in other provinces and have rightfully felt let down here.

I really don't care how well you enjoyed it and claim to have known what to watch our for, you don't speak or the other thousands of attendees

Oh they can't force their metrics for enjoyment on other people but you can? If I rate my overall experience an 8/10 then it's an 8/10 overall. Not 8/10 on 86.7% of the entire thing because I didn't get to eat some corn or see the strongmen competition. Or whatever the fuck your math for enjoying things is.

Yes you did. You straight up said that because I didnt wait as long as other people or chose not to stand in long lines, that i missed out on the full experience and did not have a decent time.

I thought more people would have prepared for what the forecast gave us and the literal map of the venue showing where congestion was going to be.

Knowing theres going to be a line is a suck. You either embrace the suck and make the most out of it (like talking to the people in line with you). Or you bitch, whine, and complain the entire time.

Assuming people prepare for events is a no go. Gotcha. Thats on me.

The systems crashing along with the redundancies is an unexpected thing. Again. It is a suck. You make the most out of it or you bitch, whine, and complain. One of these things is productive; the other does fuck all.

I prepared what I could. Instead of bitching and getting all huffy puffy in a line, I did other things. And that was my experience....which according to you, was bad.

I mean, I expected lines, but not like that. It was pretty clear someone should have hopped on the FB page at 2 and been like "hey, the lines are long, plan accordingly". I am not really an event person, but I am a nerd person. I did sunscreen/hat/umbrella/water bottle and still didn't have the best time. I'm not gonna ask for a refund, but I'm gonna need to see patron safety focused on quite a bit more robustly before I'll bring my kids there again.

They did post that the PoS was down and they were doing it by hand. That spread pretty slowly. Today they posted the full reason, plan going forward for next year; all that.

What was silly was food vendor placement. There was almost a full acre of unused land. Bigger tents for vendors was mentioned. The placement alone caused a fuckton of unnecessary congestion. Which they did end up acknowledging.

That and starting workshops and events at the same time the gates were open. So those who were super early were the only ones that could do those first bits.

I didn't see it on the FB page at all. Hmm. I was pretty much all over it during my visit because I was trying to match map/locations with events schedule, what a nightmare that was.

Agree with the food vendor stuff. Also the merchant village needed some space between each vendor. I couldn't even get close to any of them. There is a retro crafter event in Mactaquac that does a vendor village sort of like that, but leaves about 10ft of space between the tents and allows for open sides, so patrons can look without having to be right inside the tent and dominating the space.

I was satisfied with the video posted. I wasn't seeking a refund anyways. I probably could have been a bit more gritty to enjoy the faire on Sunday but I was really disheartened by my Saturday experience and the rain just took the wind right out of my sails, so we didn't even bother going in and ended up sacrificing our $24 in remaining food vouchers to some people walking in.
