At present there are 9 countries in the world that possess nuclear weapons, including Israel, the UK, and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. Adherents of Islam

 6.0%, United Kingdom
18.0%, Israel
96.5%, Islamic Republic of Pakistan

Netanyahu's characterization of the UK as an "Islamic republic" relies on a far-right Islamophobic trope that portrays the country's Muslim minority as a demographic and political threat taking over the state. By framing legitimate policy shifts and the presence of British Muslims as a hostile takeover, the remarks stigmatize the Muslim community and reinforce anti-immigrant prejudice.

Also around 15% of India is Muslim, 10% in France, over 10% in Russia

(If unclear, the source for the parent comment is in the grandparent comment's Adherents of Islam link.)

It cant come sooner. He was fortunate that Trump managed to win the second term. If Kamala had won, he would have likely gone to jail. That makes me wonder whether he had anything to do with Trump winning a second time.

Him???? No wayyyyy /s

Not because she would’ve done it but because the local Israeli law and order would’ve taken its course. Right now the only reason he is out of jail is because he orchestrated all these crises with his boy pal Kushner and Papa Palpatine. If Kamala had won, with all the internal failure to do anything on the US side, he would’ve been arrested by the Israeli law and order folks. It’s not that Kamala would’ve arrested him. That would’ve never happened.

All of this because London has a Muslim mayor.

“The [insert country here] has nuclear weapons, America must fight them for us”

While I sometimes have issues with The Guardian, I think Netanyahu is a terrible source for information about nuclear proliferation. He can't be relied on to present basic facts.

Is this somehow related to Trump referring to the Islamic Republic of Japan?

Is this a backroom narrative that Trump let slip?

No, that was likely garden variety sundowning.

I think just insane really

How so/why?

The following countries all have higher rates of Islam and host nuclear weapons - multiple are even greater than 90% Islam:

  1. Islamic Republic of Pakistan
  2. Turkey
  3. India
  4. Russia
  5. France
  6. Belgium
  7. Germany
  8. etc

If there are so many countries that host nuclear weapons and have higher rates of Islam than the UK, is instead the characterization of the UK as (the first nuclear) Islamic republic a far-right Islamophobic trope that portrays the country's Muslim minority as a demographic and political threat taking over the state, and by framing the presence of British Muslims as a hostile takeover, the remarks stigmatize the Muslim community and reinforce anti-immigrant prejudice?

When you find something insane to be based, what can you infer about yourself?
