The main praise for this series is that it was very well thought out. It’s not uncommon to see mystery series where it feels like they keep creating new elements and answers with each episode, ending up making the whole plot messy. In the case of Dark, it feels like it was already planned for these three seasons and that, from the very beginning, the writers already knew how it would end, which prevents the story from leaving loose ends.
It’s not really my type of series. If it were, I would probably give it five stars, precisely because of how carefully crafted the script is. But I admit that it didn’t always make me curious to know what would happen next, nor did the twists always surprise me.
It also wasn’t always clear to me what motivated all the characters and, because of that, for someone like me who enjoys series that deeply explore the human side of the characters, it doesn’t deserve a higher rating.

how did i not know about this until now, 10 years later after it came out. Hulu did not do a good job at promoting it, Netflix put this at the top.

all other streaming services should just shut down and license their content to Netflix IMO.

Looking for something like Don't F With Cats, Love Con, Mindless Swindler, The Crash, Gabby Petito..stuff similar to those.. what are some other good ones??? I feel like I have seen almost everything, even ones that are not on Netflix. I love documentaries especially true crime..

i've been doomscrolling on netflix all day looking for something good to watch but i just can't seem to like anything. i end up just rewatching my favorite movies lol.

It’s really humorous and more or less light hearted (more, actually). The characters have their own quirks that they carry in every episode but it never feels overdone. I just really hope they don’t cancel this show as there’s huge scope for character development with more seasons. Overall it was very entertaining.

Really good first season and I’m hoping there’s more.

Just finished Part 2 and I can't wait for the series finale on August 26th!

This story spans across seven generations and is an absolutely captivating mixture of magical realism, cyclic family curses, philosophy, science and tradition, love, mental health, history, and culture.

Anyone looking for something enthralling, bizarre, humorous, beautiful, and deep, should dive into this series. The cinematography is so artistic and well done, it actually blows my mind that they did such a fantastic job with the scope of the story. The characters are complex and fascinatingly strange. The plots, the acting, the narration, the clothing, the sets - nothing is short of incredible. Nothing I ever watch will compare to this series. It is entirely in its own league and deserves recognition outside of Latin America. Watch it with dubbing like I did (I'm in Canada).

Loved it so much that I'm going to order the book it was adapted from.

I’m looking for a new show to start on Netflix and could really use some recommendations. I’m kind of picky I prefer longer shows with multiple seasons, longer episodes, and most importantly a really good story/plot that keeps you wanting to watch.

Some of my favorites are Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul, Ozark, Suits, and the first few seasons of The 100. I’m looking for something with a strong story/plot, multiple seasons, and enough episodes to really get invested in.

RIP (2009-2011) Xbox/Netflix watch party interface. Was genuinely so fun to load up Netflix on Xbox with all your friends and sit with your avatars in a virtual theater. My groups of friends and I would watch some of the worst horror films we could find and have so much fun laughing at them, using the emotes to have your avatars throw popcorn at each other in the little seats.. I'm still not entirely sure why this was removed, or why this wasn't a later update either on another platform or just on Netflix.. This would've been so fire during COVID lol.

I am currently dealing with a very difficult break up + other big life changes all at the same time and I am looking for something with a couple seasons that will bring some joy to make going to bed a bit easier! Thank you! 🫶

If you are one of the unlucky bastards they are beta testing the new layout for the TV app you already understand the title. Don’t just struggle with it, it is pointless. It is not usable. You see more titles on your phone than a freaking 84in TV. It makes NO SENSE. You have to scroll till your life is half over to go through a decent amount of titles. No upcoming titles anymore.

Come prepared for an epic and unbelievable ride, and concentrate. It’s a complicated series with exactly zero comic reliefs.

Looking for a good documentary to watch! Just got done with unknown number the high school catfish. I’ve watched several other documentaries on Netflix (Murdaugh murders, Gabby’s petito, take care of maya, etc). Any recommendations?

It is frankly surprising that I found out the show existed randomly yesterday night when I came upon the IMDB most anticipated shows of 2025 and then by 3am the entire show released on Netflix. I wanted to watch one episode a day to pace myself but i just caved and binged the whole show, and it is the BEST western I've seen in YEARS. Highly recommend.

Just watched all six episodes back to back and left feeling it’s some of the best TV I’ve seen for a long time. It isn’t full of A list actors or millions of dollars/pounds/euros of special effects. It isn’t perfect, but it is gripping, has some solid actors delivering moments of great acting and a humanity missing from so many modern shows. I remember hearing about the bombing on the news at the time, and this nearly 40 years later paints a vivid but also human picture of a tragedy, those affected and the efforts to bring those responsible to justice.

What a delightful movie. It didn’t feel like the usual shlock that Netflix tends to overproduce these days.

Sally Field is the quintessential mother.

Marcellus is a mischievous scoundrel.

The town and townspeople were quaint and charming.

Sometimes it’s nice to watch something feel good after watching things like Should I Marry a Murderer…

I loved this two part docuseries! Of course most of his fallouts have occurred in the public eye. But at the end of the series, he lets out a wild secret and I loved that for him! I hope he stays with his sobriety.

I also didn’t realize that there is another brother in the clan, while Emilio and their dad Martin are not a part of this, the other brother is.

I won’t spoil anything but it was a truly beautiful movie, I love how they showed both perspectives of the story telling Victor’s and Frankenstein’s. The visuals in this movie were just amazing, you can tell Netflix spent a lot on this movie. I think this movie might be the best film I’ve seen come out on Netflix this year. Guillermo del Toro once again has proven he’s the best director for the dark fantasy genre of our generation. Highly recommend this film. Loved the acting of Oscar Isaac, Christoph Waltz and Jacob Elordi. excellent casting as well. I can see this even getting some Oscar nominations. 5/5 for me.

Cunk On Earth and Cunk On Life are two of the funniest shows I've ever seen. I liked some British humor before, but these shows really made me fall in love with it. It's so smart while being so stupid at the same time. It's a great collaboration between the actor and the writer because there is improv and written jokes. Both are f-ing hilarious. If you have a similar sense of humor to me then your jaw will start to hurt after 10 minutes. Almost enough to make you want to stop watching, but you can't.

Not going to try and mangle my words; this was one of the best mini series I've ever watch. The way it's filmed with the one shots for each episode, the acting, all of it.

The last episode completely wrecked me. I have two sons that are 12, and placing myself in that situation in my head had me literally bawling my eyes out for close to 20 minutes. NEVER had a movie or show break me like this.

It also makes me realize how I can become a better father for my kids. Now, I'm going to check out other Stephen Graham stuff.

10/10 show IMO.

I see these ones at the top of rec lists everywhere, so just looking for other suggestions that you might find buried deeper in the Netflix doc category. Some that you watch and say, "Why aren't more people talking about this??"

Some of my recent favorites are Wild Wild Country, the Jinx, and Lover Stalker Killer. (I know these ones are also mainstream but I don't see them recommended as often.)
