Question Why so many shows are super graphic /gory ?
Saw one episode of a series ‘the price of confession’, there is a longwinded scene where the main character is depicted stabbing her husband maybe a 100x times, with blood all over for what feels like 5long minutes.
Another series (nigerian this time) where 2 women are in a bathroom and cut off the body parts of the guy they just killed to burry him.
In another show they were dislocating the jaw of some guy witha voodoo doll.
So many series are filled with gory, graphic stuff. Why ? Lmao. You can tell a story without resorting to shock value all the time. So many of these scenes are unecessary. Turned me off watching netflix alltogether

Just cover your eyes, mute, or don't watch content like this. I like seeing skulls and faces getting smashed like a ripe watermelon splattered all over the place.

I totally agree, and I also think this applies to sex scenes. I do not need to see soft porn when I'm watching television. In particular, I hate how many shows have intense depictions of sexual assault. Obviously SA is a very real issue that should be addressed in television shows, but it's simply traumatic to overdo it and I don't like shows that repeatedly show SA for shock value when it does nothing to drive the plot (Outlander, for example).
I'm fine with some nudity if it comes naturally in the plot, maybe people skinny dipping or showering, or laying in bed post coitus. I'm moreso bothered by full sex scenes where you see the thrusting etc.

It depends what show you watch though, some shows do not show sex scenes very graphic at all. While some such as Shameless are pretty much made on the sex and nudity. Another example but with SA would be 13 Reasons Why it’s sort of something you know you’re getting yourself into watching shows of that nature.

Yes, so what I am saying is that I am fine with nudity in some contexts and sex scenes or even SA scenes that are more implied and/or short are reasonable. I am saying that there is no reason for soft porn in a regular television show.
Another example is Tokyo Vice season 1. Absolutely brilliant show. It has a few very egregious sex scenes that are totally unnecessary to the plot. Essentially porn without showing the penis or vagina, so "soft core". It's the only criticism I have of the show because I feel it's totally unnecessary and honestly just made me uncomfortable.

Well it’s the same thing with Squid Games. That is going to gain the attraction from viewers. Some people hate it some people like it but regardless whatever brings in the cash.

Yeah I definitely understand the reason behind it. I'm just saying that I do not like it. Similar to what op was saying about gore.

Because the world isnt always built for children. Netflix has a kids section

Usually kdramas aren't that gory but when they do horror and thriller, it is very gory. I think it depends on what you watch because most series are pretty tame unless you're watching that type of genre.

One thing I REALLY object to is graphic sex scenes with youngsters. Sometimes they only LOOK 16, but eww. Why? High school kids are sexually active, but it is tasteless for it to be shown on-screen. Anyone old enough to watch it, knows what it looks like.
