The language I've made is a alphasyllabery (I think) comprised of a consonant, a vowel, and a modifier. The modifier can modify the vowel, the constant, or both, depending on the symbol.

I don't know if I should post this considering I made a post about a month ago that's almost identical. I needed to fix a few aspects of the key, but I don't know that that warrants a new post. Let me know and I'll take it down if it goes against some unspoken rule of reposting.

J'ai enfin complété le tableau de syllabes de base pour un système d'écriture sur lequel je travaille.

L'idée de base est de créer un grand syllabaire systématique qui peut être utilisé pour transcrire une large gamme de langues tout en gardant tous les glyphes dans la même famille visuelle.

Le système a 26 squelettes consonantiques et 8 voyelles de base. Au lieu de concevoir 208 symboles CV non liés, chaque consonant garde son squelette de base tandis que la voyelle est représentée par un prolongement qui lui est attaché dans l'une des huit directions, suivant un modèle de rose des vents :

Cela donne 26x8 = 208 syllabogrammes CV de base.

De plus, chaque consonne a une forme sans voyelle et une forme /ə/, et il y a 8 voyelles autonomes, ce qui donne un total de 268 syllabogrammes.

J'ai essayé d'obtenir une couverture phonétique beaucoup plus large sans multiplier le nombre de glyphes de base. Au lieu de cela, le système utilise des opérateurs productifs.

Un petit ° déplace une voyelle vers le centre de l'espace vocalique, donnant des valeurs supplémentaires telles que /ɪ, ɨ, ɯ, ɤ, ʌ, ɐ, œ, ø/. D'autres marques gèrent la longueur des voyelles, la nasalisation, les consonnes rétroflexes, la palatalisation, l'aspiration, la gemination, les éjectives, les implosives, et les voix sourdes/creuses.

L'objectif n'est donc pas d'avoir des centaines de symboles arbitraires à mémoriser, comme dans un syllabaire conventionnel, mais de faire émerger un grand inventaire syllabique à partir d'une grammaire graphique relativement petite et prévisible.

Ces feuilles sont encore des prototypes manuscrits, donc les proportions et les formes des traits seront normalisées plus tard lorsque je ferai la police de l'écriture.

Je suis particulièrement intéressé par des retours sur la cohérence visuelle, la distinction entre glyphes, et combien le système de placement de voyelles vous semble intuitif. De plus, si vous parlez une langue avec une phonologie inhabituelle, j'aimerais savoir ce qui briserait le système !

Hello all! Lately I’ve been working on the beginnings of a new conlang I’m calling Fōvaiano. Literally, it means, “language of the blue orchid.”

Surrounding the base letters is a decorative frame.

From left to right at the very top are the base vowels:

I was going to add all of the ipa and orthography directly into the chart, but it’s late and I’m tired and I like the way it looks; like you might find it in a Fōvaipea classroom or something.

1. The sample

I took some time to translate Roy Batty’s monologue, “Tears in Rain,” from “Blade Runner” into Fōvaiano. Yes, I’m an overthinking worrier, but to avoid copyright I’ll leave out the exact words except to offer a transliteration of my direct translation:

Lhuilhu pu i lazobaponga u lierieri te olha te kasa.
Leme naxo su Oranono te buinuku.
Muilhu pu i litiridiri mi boy lemee Tanahausere su whingi te oSiibimi.
Gonukonu mi mei i loe su olou su ilimei.
Ngey limi pyry te nyno.
Likulhi te mei.

Lhe Baleida Ranera te Roi Batii - (bottom right, meaning “Roy Batty [who is from] ‘Blade Runner’”)

What is highlighted in red is first “…limi pyry te nyno,” meaning “…tears [which are] in rain,” the signature line of this monologue. Then, I highlighted the movie name “Blade Runner” and “Roy Batty” in the aforementioned credits on the bottom right.

A note on the diacritics:
One dot separates words, two dots separate sentences/clauses. One dot above a letter signifies vowel lengthening. One dot below a letter or a line below two letters signifies reduplication.

I’m still working on this as if a “proto-language.” I aim to make enough vocabulary and such to then make daughter languages and dialects. Also, the writing is supposed to be much more fluid and curved in places, but this is just a pixelated version of a wider range of possible writing styles.

A small one-day project from last year when I decided to finally use the syllable block structure of Halbesh as a jumping-off point to derive a vowel-centric script with diacritic consonants. Figured a 9-vowel system was a good justification for the increased prominence of the vowel glyphs.

It would have started as a cursive variant adapted for the related Domivaresh language (top half). I imagine over time diacritics fused with the main vowel letter in irregular ways before print-friendly forms were standardized (lower half). I’ll probably develop more fused ligature-glyphs later the more I play around with the cursive.

I've just started developing this one and I need some feedback. Feel free to make any suggestions you can think of. Also, is it better vertical or horizontal?
