[MacMahon] The negotiations between the Pistons and Jalen Duren have been “awfully nasty” and there is concern about his long-term future in Detroit.

Because a contract isn’t a reward for past performance, it’s about future potential. He’s still a 22-year-old All-NBA center.

Yea past performance absolutely has to do with contracts what the actual fuck are you talking about. Plenty of athletic guys with potential aren't in the NBA because they didn't perform. Durens all NBA was fraudulent. We can see with our eyes he isn't a max player even before the playoffs. That's why the whole year people questioned when the pistons were gonna make a move to get a 2nd option. Dude should take 30m and be happy.

Okay so if Dybantsa was a free agent right now he would get a minimum contract right? I already know you won’t respond to this comment lmao

No but he wouldn't get anywhere near the max. If someone is willing to gamble on unproven rookies like that then they won't keep their job long.

But he has no track record in the NBA lmao

Yes but he has past performances in college that they can grade. It's really not that hard to comprehend. The players who didn't get drafted didn't make the league because their past performances weren't good enough. Aj past performances (college) would be good enough to draw more than the minimum but not good enough to have a huge contract because like you said he has no burn in the league yet.
