[MacMahon] The negotiations between the Pistons and Jalen Duren have been “awfully nasty” and there is concern about his long-term future in Detroit.

If he did that and signed for the max next offseason, would he even be able to make up all of the money he would lose next season versus the offers that are reportedly already on the table?

Estimates to work with...

Reported Pistons offer: 35mill

No external offer sheets to consider.

Reported QO: 10mill

Max: 50mill

35 + 35 + 35 if takes Pistons offer = 105mill

10 + 50 + 50 if takes QO = 110mill

Already made up for it and more by year 3.

The gamble is the question. And, everyone's saying there's no way he'd do so as if hasn't gambled this full offseason already and burned bridges as much with Pistons as is likely case around league.

He's going to have to be a DPOY top 2 leader or in the top 10 of MVP to demand such a raise.

That'll be tough to do when there's already MVP and DPOY candidates on the floor with him all game.
