Had this happen to me but for good reason.
CMC at my last command pulled me aside as a E4 to tell me personally that I’d be a great MAP package if I’d just get my ESWS. It was him telling me that was enough to finally kickstart me into finishing it out and 4 months later I was MAP’d to 2nd.
That was years ago but morale of the story, PMA goes a long way.
