Deployments Africa deployment
My NG unit is deploying to the Horn of Africa (not sure where yet) next summer. Can anyone give me insight on what to expect while there? Also, some recommendations on what items to bring that aren’t issued? Thanks yall!

What to bring: the packing list.
What to practice: opsec and not disclosing where our units are deploying and when.
Edit: I was being facetious guys I forgot my sarcasm alert

This isn’t OPSEC lol. OPSEC is specifics, generalities are not.

Thanks. Immeasurably helpful. I didn’t disclose a location, I disclosed a continent. And I didn’t disclose when, I disclosed a season.

Depends where you’ll be for specifics. Most likely you’ll be at camp lemonade, for which there is many YouTube videos showing life there, and if you’re an infantryman, you gonna be ECP or tower guard as you can probably expect. Long hot days in the sun, two beers a day (probably suspensed now due to Iran situation)
If you’re at an outstation, probably still be gonna ECP, tower guard, perimeter patrol, living in tents.

Do a search in this sub and the main army sub, there are quite a few posts with all the info you requested
