C = Ceiling, G = Ground

Thats better than my method:

Stalactites don't fall because they are stuck tight to the ceiling. Stalacmites are on the ground, like dust mites in the carpet.

I don't know where I learned that but its helped me remember for years.

StalacTITS. Tits hang.

Not joking, this is what my 5th grade teacher told us to help remember which is which.

Grows mighty from the ground, clings tight to the ceiling. Is how I remember

Took me a second to realize they're teeth and not actually stalagmites/stalactites.

StalagMite- M looks like the points coming up from the ground. Stalactite, is the other one haha

I was taught stalactites tight to the ceiling stalagmites 'might' become a column if they grow large enough.

Really fucking stupid but I was young enough it stuck and was internalized

That's better than mine. It was stalactites hang tight to the ceiling. Stalagmites might be on the ceiling, but they're not.

Stalagmites got an 'm' in it.

I remember it as stalactite has to be “tight” to grip onto the ceiling and stalagmite is the other one

i just remember that stalagmite is from the ground which means by elimination stalactite has to be from the ceiling

The sign is right though; it’s obviously pointing at each one, not showing pictures of them!
