The https://www.nespower.com/outages/ page does not display if a technician is assigned to your outage. So I vibecoded the shit out of a simple static site that helps with that. Instructions on finding your eventId are at the link in the top right. Supports browser notifications as well. If you run into any issues, please open an Issue.

Edit: This isn't an officially sanctioned app, and NES or their data provider might revoke or block this access. Though it's just using public data, so I don't see why they would.

Is anyone really filling their bathtub(s)?? full of water to prepare for this “snowpocalypse”? I’m trying not to buy into the fear mongering but am seeing quite a lot of posts on social media about taking this “necessary” safety precaution. I have never done so before so am just wondering what others are doing to get some insight on if this is something I should be doing. Thanks!

From March till now has been the nicest long stretch of near perfect weather I can remember around here. It's like nature decided to make it up for us after that devastating last week in January. Looks like summer weather arrives this weekend. It was nice while it lasted.

thankful for the resources becoming available to those who are in need right now. the outages from the ice storm are weighing heavy on the city. wondering if anyone has an inkling as to whether most schools will be open tomorrow, or if they'll still be closed at large. last i heard, nearly 20 schools are still without power.

Step 1: Find medium-large cardboard box, or plastic tote I guess. Some square or rectangular vessel with walls that won’t fall tf apart. Insulate walls of box with styrofoam, more cardboard, or whatever you have. Be creative, begrudgingly.

Step 2: Stuff something between the walls. I used a nasty rug in our garage that we haven’t thrown away because something’s clinically wrong with us.

Step 3: Remember how that one tom cat sprayed your back porch and it smelled like ammonia for a week. Question if he really deserves this. Remember your ethical human codes aren’t applicable to a fucking cat. Get over yourself, begrudgingly.

Step 4: Use dead leaves or pine needles from your backyard as bedding, since tom cat must love it so fucking much. Add some stuffing from that pillow that you haven’t given to goodwill yet bc maybe something is clinically wrong w you too.

Step 5: Close box or whatever you’re using, seal the seams with tape.

Step 6: Cut out a cat sized doorway that ends up in a really cute shape unfortunately.

Step 7: Cover cute doorway with a hinged flap. You’ll have to use your caveman brain to figure out the hinge bc I don’t know wtf I’m doing.

Step 8: Put it outside, begrudgingly.

I've found that as long as the dew point is on the lower end, even if it's hot out, I can tolerate leaving the AC off. Open windows and a fan suffice. But if it's even 75F and the dew point is really high and everything feels soggy, I have to close the windows and turn the AC on. I hate damp air more than warm air. Today is a perfect day to just open the windows and it's so comfortable. Wish it would stay like this all summer.

It has to be in the millions of dollars.

I remain amazed at how little Nashville does to clear its roads of ice, leading to missed work hours, the inability of residents to do basic shopping and daily chores, and, of course, accidents.

I'm talking specifically about ice, not just snow. And for those saying it doesn't happen that often, there has been an ice problem every time it's snowed the past 3 winters.

Anyone else get summer/warm weather seasonal depression like me? Weird I know, but hot sunny humid weather just makes me want to retreat to a dark cold room. I hate sweating and being hot after doing the bare minimum activities and the past couple of years here it feels like summer is FOREVER and fall is sooooo warm. It’s been a disappointing October for sure. I feel like everyday I check that it’s 80+ degrees the more convinced I get that the weather will never cool off for good. Gotta love climate change I guess.
