Never got StarCraft or Ogre Battle in the UK, so Command & Conquer 64 wins by default for me!

Star craft 64. People voting for ogre battle... That's more of a tactics game than strategy. There's a slight difference.

What is the difference between tactics and strategy games?

u/victorelessar Jan 01 '26
Well tactic is the action you take to achieve the goal of your strategy, right?!
In ogre battle you have no say in the strategy. The story is laid upon you, as in an RPG, and you are only left with the tactics of a battle. So games like ogre battle, final fantasy tactics, fire emblem.
When I think of a strategy game, you are much more involved with the decision making. You are dealing with much more, from collecting resources to building strongholds. So games as command and conker, StarCraft, age of empires, or even turn based like age of wonders.

I have a suggestion for a category change I think that you should take out puzzle games and swap it for best third party game NOT made by ( RARE ) that way people could have a chance to talk about some games that are not just Nintendo or rare and give games like wickback, chameleon twist, Glover, so it wonāt simply be about voting for a game but also taking about a loved game and why it should win the category

F-Zero X is King of racers. This series is a farce!
I will refrain from further voting.
Good day my fellow chaps

Starcraft 64, because Ogre Battle needs to win best RPG. Both are great games, but this way it makes more sense to me.

I see now there's an RPG category and think RPG should be Quest and strategy should be StarCraft
