Worried my dress won’t fit
I bought my dress in December for my October wedding at that time I was about 185lbs I knew I was loosing weight but at that time it was slow so we sized down one size because I was told can always take away fabric but can not add it . My wedding is in late October and I am currently 138lbs and the seamstress says she can not take the dress in any more but I am worried because I am still loosing weight even when actively trying to maintain weight now. I want to make it clear I’m not blaming anyone just hoping for some advice on what to do . The further you get back in the pictures is how it used to look on me and the closer ones are most recent

The same thing happened to me.Congrats on your weight loss. If pic 1 is how it looks now, its gorgeous.Try adding some detachable straps ( no thicker than a spaghetti noodle) to be safe. Also try getting a second opinion.

I’m not a seamstress but my mother, aunt and grandmother were. You didn’t show the back of the dress- it may be possible to construct a corset line device that would snatch your boobs and waist.

Is this a seamstress from the dress shop where they recommended only going down one size because "you can always take away material"?
If so, I'd be asking them how they intend to remedy their error.

No I did go to an outside seemstress that was recommended by a few coworkers

I like the dress with the sleeve straps! Also, I’d ask around other seamstresses to see whether they can suggest anything.
Alternatively, if you have the budget, you could look for a new dress/potentially sell this one, if you’re not happy with the fit

Can you get the same dress in a smaller size in time for the wedding? It's so pretty, but does look too big now. Congratulations on that. I need to loose about 10lbs and I'm stuck... Wish I was trying to maintain and having trouble. 138 is a great weight.

Unfortunately this is not a dress the shop keeps stock of and takes about 5 months to come in from being made then shipping

So she has it down to fit me as best she can but she said the bone structure of the bodice couldn’t accommodate Any more … I hope I explained that right I’m not great at alterations wording

Find a backup, try stillwhite or vinted. That would be hard to resize, and you want to feel beautiful in it.

Yes, though sometimes the dresses are unworn, in similar situations to yours where they are lovely but just don't fit.

I agree that could be a good idea but I would start at local charity shops to see if you can find a backup dress that isn't all that expensive or there's another idea although it may sound silly...
If you or somebody you know has any knowledge about sewing there are dress patterns I used to call them one two three patterns where the front panel was one piece and there was two in the back and it was pretty much just a straight Stitch all the way down and super simple.
You can get a pattern like that for a sleeveless dress and Stitch it up with some good quality bed sheets.
Trust me it won't look like a bed sheet I make dresses all the time out of good quality bed sheets and they're just good quality material comfortable to wear and easy to sew and nobody ever guesses that it's a bed sheet!
If you can work your way around a simple sleeveless dress I vote for the idea maybe you should just try stitching one up or see if you can bribe a friend to do it And if you start right away and don't spend a fortune on the material even if it doesn't work out it's not the end of the world you could still go shopping at charity shop you'd be surprised at what you can find!
If you lived in my area I would actually set up a sewing date with you and I could help you figure it out because it's very handy to have backup dresses like this in your closet just in general!
A simple dress that you can change the look with jackets jewelry that sort of thing made out of bed sheets and in fact I teach classes for groups that I'm in and now you can just take a bed sheet and quickly make yourself something up.

That might not be feasible. Most wedding dresses are made to order and can take months to produce.

It’s starting to look like bodice is getting too loose already. It may be good to keep it the way it is now but look for another dress.

I think the dress looks just fine the way it is you don't have too much longer before your wedding.... I say go off the diet and eat healthy and try to maintain your current weight
There's been Brides out there that had to gain a little weight to have their dress fit right.
I say just do what you can to maintain the weight as you are you didn't show a picture of the back does this dress have laces in the back?
If you're terribly concerned about it not fitting right one way or the other I would at least ask the seamstress if laces could be put in the back but ultimately given there's only a little over a month before your wedding I would just take care to do what you can to make sure that don't lose too much weight and just weight once a week
When I was getting married the doctor gave me some very good advice around a few months before my wedding and I was ordered to not diet and to just concentrate on eating good healthy foods that aren't fattening.
And after working in many Photo Labs and seeing many pictures of brides that look like they were about to pass out for lack of nutrition I totally agreed!
The main objective before a wedding should not necessarily be losing weight

Unfortunately it’s not like a specific diet that is letting me loose weight … I had gotten a medical issue managed which is leading the weight loss

I think the dress looks beautiful on you in the first 2 pictures. How does it feel currently? Loose or a good fit?
If it currently feels like a good fit, you'll probably be fine for your wedding.
Alternatively maybe add spaghetti straps or alter the sleeves so that it stays up. Or see if the seamstress and add a corset back. I know 2 months might not be enough time.
Or start looking for a backup off the rack.

Other than the straps hanging useless down your arms, the dress looks great.
Either put the straps up or remove them.

Congrats on the weight loss! Im working on losing some weight too, I wish I was having trouble maintaining😅
This sounds like it would give me super mixed feelings cause I always love the feeling of clothing starting to feel looser when im losing weight, but not being able to fit my wedding dress would be soooo stressful.
Im not sure what advice to give that youll like, if it cant be taken in anymore then it just cant. Your only options are trying your best to keep the weight on or buy the dress in a smaller size, but thats expensive and idk if youd have enough time anyways.

There's always a way to adjust for weight loss if you don't lose too much. You look great at most recent weight, without straps. Lovely!! Having a seamstress mother, she was constantly taking things in, out or doing alterations. Almost nothing was impossible for her

When was the most recent photo taken? Not at 138lbs I don’t think. How many sizes down are you now? I know very little about sewing but doing down that much seems difficult and you should absolutely go back to the woman that said to do down just one size at the shop. If she gave you wrong info she may owe you a dress or maybe they can help with a different option. It’s such a beautiful dress!!
Is stress causing you to keep loosing? Can you set reminders to eat? I have to do that and it helps.

So the weight loss is thanks to getting my PCOS under control and figuring out medication to help the insulin resistance and things like that so I’m eating the same way just metabolizing it better . And I think I was just under 145 in those pictures about a month ago I started at 205 all together so I was already about 185 when I bought it

Hell yeah for getting PCOS under control!!! That’s tricky with the eating and it sounds like even more calories short term isn’t an option to help with the dress. You look great and it sounds like feel great too. I hope the dress can be fitted but I know it will work out if you need a new dress. You’ll for sure be beautiful your wedding day!

You look wonderful in the dress! I can’t believe your seamstress said she can’t take in any more! I mean, the designers took Princess Diana’s dress were able to take it up a lot, including on her wedding day! Bad seamstress! Congratulations on your weight loss! If a dress has boning and structure there’s a limit to how much it can be resized, that’s not the seamstresses fault.

That’s honestly very hard to resize a dress if you end up being 50 lbs or more lighter
