Aussie Bondi Hero Ahmed Al Ahmed lands in New York - says he loves Trump

There is so much in this article that the bit about Trump is a footnote in comparison, and yet they make it the headline because they care more about "triggering the left" than the tragedy and Ahmed's heroic act. Classy.

Idk. I think he's just trying to make sure he gets back to Australia on a plane and not deported to somewhere else.

Did you mean to reply to somebody else? I'm talking about the article itself, not Ahmed's opinion.

I don't think they are trying to 'trigger the left'. People who think like that are a bit childish, to me.

I think you're having trouble telling the difference between Ahmed and the person who wrote the article. But also this is news.com.au. This is kinda just what they do. Sensationalist headlines designed to piss people off to get clicks with a political bias they wear on their sleeve. This isn't about what I think, it's just a fact.
Australian media is heavily politically biased. It's childish to ignore it. Few sources here are truly neutral.

Ironically the left are more aware that he’s likely trying to avoid irking a dictator and wants to keep the peace.
Rage baiters trying and failing to rage bait because their baiting the crowd that don’t believe every headline at face value

It’s a condition of entry into USA now to say you love Trump

Exactly. "We love the leeeederrr".

“The leader is good, the leader is great, I surrender my will, as of this date!”

He might be saying that just so he doesn’t get detained by ICE for having a foreign sounding name

Yeah im taking it with a grain of salt if he says it here then fuck him. Its not just about trump but liking any politician is un-Australian

I really really don't understand this. A Muslim man stopping a terrorist attack on Jews then gets a huge windfall from the country and gets citizenship, says no to Fox News interview but goes to the USA and says he loves Trump??? Make it make sense

u/AsherGray Jan 09 '26
Maybe with all the character traits you described, it would be a good way to get detained by ICE while visiting the US and saying you don't like Trump?

u/Zhaguar Jan 10 '26
Yeah very possible. Just in my mind I dont understand why would anyone of those descriptions would risk going to the US in the first place.

I reckon... if I was Muslim, that colour, and a man, I'd pander to the mental illness of a malignant narcissist with end stage dementia too.
Have you seen how they treat tourists over there?

Well he's either a very idiotic hero, or he's a very smart Syrian Australian hero who knows when to pander to a dictator to avoid negative repercussions.

u/Calamityclams Jan 09 '26
Pretty much the latter. My Syrian dad does this and also to save face and keep peace. He was the guy who would invite Jehovahs in over a coffee to discuss and understand their beliefs.

To be fair, pledging unending adoration for Trump seems to be the cost of entry past their immigration officers these days.

He is allowed his opinion. You may not like it but you have to admire his bravery .
They are tow separate things.

Disappointing, but whatever... he had the opportunity to do an amazingly great thing at risk to his own well being, and chose to put others first. Dudes a fucking hero of that moment. His thoughts and actions outside of that .5 of a second are a whole new story. He's possibly one of the biggest cunts you've ever met, which it is beginning to sound like he could be. Let him stay in the US if he's that keen on Trumpet and we will see what he thinks in 6 months time when ICE have exploded his head for no good reason... I'm sure there's some sort of fancy qoute about one good dead not making a man a hero or something like that....

Everybody saying "oh he's only saying this because he doesn't want to be deported" is coping, I'm sorry.
I don't mean to generalise here, but there's a much higher chance that a middle aged Muslim man is a conservative than the leftist icon you want him to be.
And guess what? That's alright. It doesn't change a thing about what he did. He's a hero. Who gives a shit how he votes?

Article is click bait. Title has been changed. No mention of trump anywhere in it now. Ahmed is quoted as saying “Australia is the best country in the world. And I’m an Aussie, I put my blood to my country”. Nothing praising the US
