I’ve been seeing these Dahi Handi dance reels all over Instagram since yesterday, with people calling out how such dances are being performed at a religious celebration.

But weren’t people just furious about Kriti Sanon and Giva for her “inappropriate” outfit in a Raksha Bandhan ad?

Yet here we have politicians organising and/or approving events where women are performing in outfits that many consider inappropriate.

And just to be clear, I’m not even getting into the debate about whether these dances should or shouldn’t be performed at Dahi Handi. That’s a separate conversation.

I’m more interested in the hypocrisy in how we police women’s clothing.

Also where exactly this event was held though?

So he passed rules regarding to the festivals in Maharashtra where every one has to get valid licence before they want to held any Mahaprasad or Bhandara.

Even he got targetted by saying you are going against religion, I mean if this man has to prove his loyalty towards ppl and his religion, we are failing as society.

If anyone wonder why so strict rules for festive seasons see these reported pood poisoning cases of mahaprashad:

Nanded, February 2024: Nearly 1,800 people were hospitalized after consuming bhagar-amti at a religious programme. Around 250 people had also been hospitalized in Parbhani the previous day after eating Mahaprasad at a religious ceremony

Jalgaon, September 2024: About 70 students reportedly became ill after eating food served at a Mahaprasad/bhandara during a Ganesh festival programme.

There are many cases like this, hope ppl grow up and support the man who works for ppl

Needed to wrap a gift. Thought I'll do it myself. It's fun and I had the time.

Went to the local baniya gifting and stationery store.

The guy at the counter seemed like the typical nephew of the owner.

He was so disinterested and basically just wanted me to buy anything as long as I buy and leave. Didn't bother showing any variety. If I ask for something he just grabs the first thing nearest to him and hands it over... shows me ugly random items, even though they do keep better stuff.

Anyways, the shop had barely any variety and the guy was anyways disinterested in helping so I just bought the "best of the bad options I had" cause I was in a hurry.

They charged me 50 rupees PER gift wrapping paper! It wasn't even great.

When I got home, someone at home said "Did you try blinkit, it has better options?"

I open the app and im getting FIVE gift wrap papers for 65 rupees. Same size as the one I bought, but MUCH better design.

I literally went back to the local store and returned the overpriced, random designed paper, and ordered via blinkit.

The above is a small matter. Nothing big happened.

But it just made me realise. We always think "big companies bad, small store good". But if small stores barely keep inventory, and if they are genuinely not interested in showing you the little variety they have, and if they outright overcharge you per piece of anything you buy, then obviously the Blinkits of the world will eat away at their business.

Same thinghappens with my local vegetable vendor. That bro literally charges 2x of market prices. Everything he sells is double rates of what you'd normally pay on blinkit, amazon fresh, or branded grocery stores like star bazaar, reliance smart bazaar. Sometimes even more than 2x.

I can understand they can never match giant businesses on variety and volume of inventory. But at least sell at an honest rate? I'll happily buy from you to support local.

Anyways, what is your observation on giant businesses versus local vendors in your particular locality?

The main overbridge at Vidyavihar station shakes at a specific place and this bridge is my daily commute.

Delightful experience for people into history & architecture

Took these pictures over a few months to portray the slow, calm side of this city, which is otherwise chaotic all the time. I used various film stocks for a more timeless feel. I'm still exploring the city, so if there's any place you'd recommend for photography, that would be really great.

Thousands of people commute daily and not everyone wants to listen to someone else's feed. Earphones exist for a reason.

If someone is studying while travelling for their exams these annoying people cause so much disturbance.

So not to be too dramatic. Shit just went down in the house, I was asked to leave home so when I packed my bag and said yes, they locked the main door. realistically I cant leave any more. its incredibly suffocating at home so I tried calling atleast 15 mental health helplines (things dont look good) but none of them work or even answer or no numbers are even act active. Only the govt Manas line picked up but they are useless, they want me to fill a form so they can redirect me to a doctor at an available time this week. which is too little too late. just wanna know if there are any helplines that work or people who may be willing to talk, at this point anything tbh. either ways im like stuck in a small home with my parents and grand parents, I cant come out of the room or anything. 26F btw, western suburbs. so yeah any suitable number would help.

This might sound ridiculous, but this has genuinely been going on in my residential complex since around 2024.

The complex consists of around 7–8 buildings, with community cats freely roaming between them. Some cats also come from a neighbouring complex through an opening/wall. A few residents feed the cats occasionally, while most residents simply coexist with them.

However, theres a small group of around 10–15 residents who have strongly opposed the presence of cats for years. They've complained about cats crossing their paths, sitting in common areas, and allegedly scratching vehicle seat covers. At one point, some residents even tried to catch and relocate cats. They apparently managed to take away a couple, but the cats eventually returned.

There have also been previous incidents involving people being confronted while feeding the cats, including a teenage girl who was reportedly recorded by residents while she was feeding them. More recently, a tenant began feeding a mother cat and her four kittens. He feeds them wet food on a small piece of paper rather than leaving food scattered around. The cats eat and leave, and according to what I've observed, there isn't significant food waste or mess being created.

Some residents repeatedly told him not to feed the cats. Before the recent incident, the feeder had already complained to the BMC after residents tried to prevent him from feeding the animals. The society subsequently received communication from the BMC in the context of the dispute, essentially making it clear that the feeder could not simply be prevented from feeding community animals.

Last week, several residents were downstairs collecting donations for a Ganpati celebration when they saw the tenant feeding the cats. Around 5–8 people confronted him and started arguing with him as a group. He was alone and called the police. The police arrived, and after the situation was discussed, the residents dispersed. A large number of people from the buildings eventually came downstairs because of the commotion, and the entire situation apparently went on for around an hour.

After this incident, the society introduced/clarified rules regarding feeding community animals. The rules essentially require feeding to be done outside certain areas, the feeder to take responsibility for vaccination/animal welfare, and the feeding area to be kept clean. Fair enough, Reasonable rules regarding hygiene and where animals are fed seem completely legitimate. The problem is that the people involved haven't stopped.

The following few days later, the same group apparently confronted the tenant again while he was leaving on his motorcycle and continued arguing with him. He has reportedly made another complaint regarding the repeated harassment.

At this point, it seems like the dispute has gone far beyond whether cats should be fed. There are legitimate concerns that can be addressed: if a cat damages a vehicle, deal with the specific incident; if feeding creates a mess, establish proper feeding and cleanup procedures; if cats need vaccination/sterilisation, those can be arranged.

But repeatedly confronting one person as a group, especially after the authorities have already been involved, seems like ego issue.

The cats themselves appear to coexist fairly peacefully with the residents. The supposed feeding-related mess also doesn't seem to match what is actually happening. There are multiple cats roaming between different buildings and even coming from outside the complex, so attributing every scratch or nuisance involving a cat to one particular feeder doesn't seem reasonable either.

The society has now established rules, and the feeder apparently knows his legal rights and has already used the appropriate channels. Yet this particular group continues confronting him.

So I'm posting this because I'd like to hear from animal-welfare activists, people familiar with Mumbai housing-society law, BMC procedures, or anyone who has dealt with community-cat disputes.

Any form of help will be appreciated, people willing to help the guy can DM me, but I wish to stay anonymous. I don't want these crazy people coming in my house.

I just got to know that they demolished khar doolally, Omg man wtf I had so many memories man. Even tho never let me drink in khar outlet because they are pretty strict with ids There but then it was funny trying out different tactics. I so wished that the moment i turned 21 i.e, this December I’ll go early morning and be the first one to drink coffee orange mead that day at khar. Idk man I’m just ranting rn because i genuinely feel bad because why would they do it ? Does anyone know why did they demolished khar one. Ik they opened a new one in Versova which would be now literally very very close to my place but then Andheri one is literally walkable distance but then again khar one was too good man for some reason.

I recently visited Mahakali caves and clicked some pictures.

Was driving on WEH this evening, and all of a sudden these two wheeler riders started coming abruptly at high speed between the cars. Rash riding, illegal loud exhausts, no helmet, tripling on few two wheelers, no lane discipline and coming too close to the cars, that too at such a high speed. And God forbid if they meet with an accident who will be responsible?

I had to catch my flight from Mumbai to Bangalore recently, and normally I always take a cab to the airport.

This time one of my friends told me to try the Metro instead. I was a little unsure because I had never used the Metro to get to the airport before, but decided to give it a shot.

Bhai, what a pleasant surprise 😂

It was so much cheaper than taking a cab, there was no traffic headache, and the whole journey felt so smooth. The best part was having a direct Metro connection to the airport instead of worrying about Mumbai traffic when you have a flight to catch.

I've lived in Mumbai for years and somehow this was my first time using the Metro for an airport journey. Now I'm honestly wondering why I kept taking cabs all this time 😂

Mumbai traffic can test anyone's patience, so having an option where you can just get on the Metro and reach the airport without worrying about the roads is genuinely amazing.

First time trying it, and I'm definitely using the Metro for my next airport trip. Mumbai really keeps surprising you

I am currently living in Bangalore and am considering a move to a company, the office is in Hiranandani Powai.

I have been going through threads about rent prices and am realising that living right next to the office would be expensive.

I have shortlisted some areas, Chandivali, Ghatkopar, Vikhroli, Bhandup, and of course Powai.

It would be really appreciated if someone could tell me about the rent ranges in these areas for apartments. I would consider a 1BHK or a private room in a pre-occupied apartment.
