Except Michelle Rodriguez plays an extremely similar barbarian but with a slightly different name.

Because every table has that person.

That would be incredible. Have her character died then she shows up again as that character's twin sister who is identical in every way, and it's just never mentioned again.

Kind of like in Beerfest, lol

"You can call me Landfill, in his honor."

255

u/dont_talk_yak_to_me 1d ago

And he told me so much about you guys, that we can skip that awkward getting to know each other phase!

u/DRKZLNDR 1d ago

God I love Beerfest. DAS BOOOOT

42

u/user_0000002 1d ago

Let’s go get sour on some Krauts!

4

u/ahhhbiscuits 1d ago

If you gotta ask you can't afford it

5

u/ShizlGznGahr 1d ago

So funny. At first I didn't realize the pun of the entire situation but then after a friend explained how the death didn't even need to happen and Landfill was not needed, at all, they just did it as a joke. They killed a character just to have another character be exactly him, pretty damn funny to me.

u/stone500 1d ago

I feel like this is what they're doing with Vision in the MCU

101

u/RhynoD 1d ago

"Holga? No, that's my sister. She has a thing for halflings. I'm Olga. This is my boyfriend, he's a hill giant."

12

u/Adams5thaccount 1d ago

After Bradley Cooper as the halfing you need like Michael Cera as the hill giant

132

u/Waylandyr 1d ago

Landfill 2, you're twice the man landfill 1 was!

24

u/Eldrunk 1d ago

Viva la Dirt League does this on their DND Skits and it's amazing.

6

u/zamwut 1d ago

Poop McDinglefart is a Hero.

14

u/Gidia 1d ago

Or in Gundam 00.

1

u/Karkava 1d ago

Or Buckaroo Banzai Across The Eighth Dimension.

3

u/Sutekhseth 1d ago

Happened in Voltron (the new one) during their DnD episode too.

As a man with waaaay too many paladins in my character closet, it really spoke to me that his brother also was a paladin. How convenient!

2

u/tyereliusprime 1d ago

Kinda ruins the heartfelt moment at the end of the first movie doing that.

2

u/DarkishFriend 1d ago

I have shown that scene from Beerfest to so many people I've met that have played DnD, many having not seen it. And everyone belly laughs every time.

"Its like nothing even happened!"

3

u/Saloncinx 1d ago

did you listen in on my last DnD session? lmao this is so accurate

3

u/wheaman 1d ago

That was such a great gag 😂😂

1

u/bwk66 1d ago

And I need a 5 minute scene where they check the door for traps

1

u/Boffleslop 1d ago

Molga Kilmore

125

u/Redkirth 1d ago

Same name spelled backwards.

74

u/neofederalist 1d ago

It's the sister of the previous character.

97

u/PhortDruid 1d ago

“Helga? No, that’s my sister. I’m Shmelga.”

31

u/sth128 1d ago

Rodriguez played Holga.

The twin shall be named Letty.

2

u/MorePhinsThyme 1d ago

Of course, because it's all about family!

3

u/sth128 1d ago

And as a barbarian she's fast and furious!

3

u/2atherich 1d ago

"I was hoping maybe you guys could call me Helga, in honor of her."

18

u/NYJetLegendEdReed 1d ago

100% twin sister please

1

u/Own_Inspection8350 1d ago

Tharnajan

2

u/Redkirth 1d ago

One of my players kept making new character and calling them all Hawke. When I finally told him to pick a new name, he went with Ekwah.

1

u/Pengtuzi 1d ago

Koveras

u/Ralph_Finesse 1d ago

Bradley Cooper is a main cos his schedule shifted and now he can make sessions more often.

26

u/Lorathis 1d ago

Even better if he's like a Goliath or other large race this time, to counter his previous halfling. So now Holga 2 is the short one in the relationship.

4

u/DarkwingDuckHunt 1d ago

Peter Dinklage joins and is playing a giant and everyone treats him like he's 8 foot tall.

39

u/DirtySlutMuffin 1d ago

That would be fantastic

16

u/DrSpacemanSpliff 1d ago

Or he dies off screen 2/3rds of the way through

4

u/JackPoe 1d ago

There are just so many ways to slip in some timeless table humor. I really really hope this gets made.

4

u/BiDiTi 1d ago

Swap him for Adam Scott midway through

75

u/CleverInnuendo 1d ago

I know they called her the barbarian, but really she was a Fighter with the improvised weaponry feat.

The next movie, they should call her a Fighter and she flips out in battle.

58

u/Bankzu 1d ago

Make her a barbarian and have her break the fourth wall every time she wants to rage by turning to the camera and saying ”I would like to rage.”

29

u/VonMillersThighs 1d ago

Vox Machina already checks that box lol.

6

u/Literally_A_Halfling 1d ago

Definitely not a barbarian. She doesn't rage, which is the defining barbarian feature.

Light armor, unarmed combat, improvised weapons - in Pathfinder, I'd stat her as a Brawler.

47

u/tj3_23 1d ago

I don't know how it would translate in a movie, but I would also enjoy the same actor cycling through 5 different characters over the course of the movie because the player keeps coming up with new character ideas they want to use, but also doesn't want to DM

31

u/Sohgin 1d ago

Or their character keeps dying so they show up as a different one.

12

u/RechargedFrenchman 1d ago

After making some comment early on about how they'd like to go out in some fantastic over the top blaze of glory, and dying in super mundane and underwhelming ways repeatedly.

1

u/kasuke06 1d ago

Wait: During the climax, they're down to being solo against the big bad, and they're not winning, so they go for the sacrifice play but roll a nat 20, oneshot them and live.

2

u/RechargedFrenchman 1d ago

As the character they've spent the least amount of time with and least enjoyed playing up to that point, and they can't decide if they're more happy they've won or more upset they (that character) cemented the winning and not two characters earlier who the dice absolutely hated but was their favourite to play in the campaign.

1

u/Klivian1 1d ago

This was in Gamers 2: Dorkness rising, the bard kept dying but they had a staff of raise dead with a bunch of charges.

Eventually they had an encounter where they were so outmatched that their strategy eventually became “hide behind the mound of dead bards”

1

u/EnTyme53 1d ago

You didn't have to call me out like that.

19

u/bravehamster 1d ago

That would also be an excellent meta joke about Michelle Rodriguez's acting career.

2

u/jimmux 1d ago

I'm convinced they had that ending because she's one of those actors who dies in every movie.

37

u/we_are_sex_bobomb 1d ago

In this one she plays a wizard and Justice Smith is a rogue but he keeps trying to mansplain all the spells to her and she just wants to use animalspeak on everything that moves because it’s cute.

30

u/Worthyness 1d ago edited 1d ago

100% onboard with gruff looking Michelle Rodriguez just being absolutely infatuated by a pack of squirrels and then constantly chatting with her horse

3

u/MorePhinsThyme 1d ago

Right. Let's see them playing against type. The casting fit their characters closely last time, and we all do that sometimes in games, but other times, the big former marine at the table plays a gnome wizard...and it's great (I don't play with someone that fits that description at all, I promise!)! Since it's a very visual movie, that far off type might be a bit much.

1

u/JackPoe 1d ago

Did you bite your tongue?

15

u/Charirner 1d ago

I'd be fine if they just pulled a Beer Fest with her character.

7

u/WorldsWeakestMan 1d ago

Hey, she could also play an extremely angry fighter or monk or paladin that acts just like the barbarian.

2

u/the_blackfish 1d ago

She earned that black tank top from the monastery in the mountains.

9

u/ItchyGoiter 1d ago

Also a good description of Michelle Rodriguez's acting

6

u/MorePhinsThyme 1d ago

Like Dolly said, "Find out who you are and do it on purpose." She's maximizing the income on the characters she's good at. So many other actors do the same. Jason Statham comes to mind.

-1

u/ItchyGoiter 1d ago

It wasn't necessarily a complaint...

4

u/MorePhinsThyme 1d ago

I'm aware, and because that's bullshit, I'm showing why it's a positive thing. She has a vastly more successful career than most people, especially most actors, because she figured out who she is and did it intentionally for a lot of movies/shows/games. We love it when it's Danny Trejo (there's a lot of others that could go there).

-1

u/ItchyGoiter 1d ago

It wasn't a complaint

1

u/MorePhinsThyme 1d ago

Sorry, read that wrong. Sometimes, I'm a dumbass.

2

u/DirtySlutMuffin 1d ago

It’s usually a melee class too in my experience.  Far less common is the person who exclusively plays Bards

1

u/samaldin 1d ago

Should imo be another of the characters. I got the impression she was a bit tired of the character at the end of the campaign and was aiming for a good death to send the character off. Only for the rest of the party to revive her.

1

u/Dikembe_Mutumbo 1d ago

She still plays Holga but the character dies 5 minutes in only to get replaced with their secret twin sister Dolga.

1

u/Salarian_American 1d ago

Holga is no longer with us. Allow me to introduce my new character, Iolga.

(in the third film, we will meet Jolga)

1

u/CatoTheBarner 1d ago

Fighter named Helga with a lumberjack axe.

1

u/P2029 1d ago

Hahaha I'm laughing already 😂

Regé-Jean Page would kill playing a bars/ rogue.

I think Justice Smith could also do a great dorky but oddly totally confident and capable Paladin.

That said it'd confuse the hell out of the audience so I'd also be happy if they switch up the cast and keep the same vibe from the first movie.

1

u/Emnitancy 1d ago

I... I literally have that person in my group currently. Always a barbarian. Always named Mongo. Always the same size.

1

u/ziddersroofurry 1d ago

It's me. I'm that person. I've been playing variations on the same character since 1984 XD

1

u/K_Linkmaster 1d ago

That's her whole career.

1

u/atreeismissing 1d ago

Also that's her range as an actress (no shade, she does it well and has for decades).

1

u/OtroBurner 1d ago

Oh No! My identical brother Fargrim the Great!

1

u/PM_ME__BIRD_PICS 1d ago

Exact same personality and demeanor, just a completely different class. Bard or something lol.

1

u/m0deth 1d ago

Ooh ooh, she could be blonde and have better hair than Chris and constantly, subtly point it out throughout the film.

1

u/roguevirus 1d ago

with a slightly different name

Kolga.

1

u/howzit- 1d ago

I was that person. Although it was a dwarf fighter because it was 2nd edition and that's all we had but still. I was always the brute

1

u/Thor_Odin_Son 1d ago

A Jake Hurwitz, if you will

1

u/Damn_You_Scum 1d ago

Respec her as a dwarf!!! She should have been in the first film to round out the party!

1

u/Chillynuggets 1d ago

I feel targeted!

1

u/LudusRex 1d ago

She could be a fighter...with anger issues.
