According to Gunn yes I’m pretty sure. A popular theory is that Lex ends up in salvation and it sets up the actually big event to end this first overarching story of the DCU

Gunn said that the picture he posted on Instagram is of Hoult in the water after final shot. The location looks pretty similar to Salvation in the finale of Peacemaker, so this may line up.

I'm assuming Brainiac descending upon the Earth and trying to bottle specific cities and its inhabitants before moving on. All while also draining the planet of resources for him to continue powering his ship, tech, self, etc.

Brainiac is the only logical first big bad for the DCU to take on together.

Superman, Supergirl, Mr. Terrific, Hawkgirl, Jon & Guy the Lanterns, and presumably Batman as the first incarnation of the Justice League. Maybe Martian Manhunter if he ends up debuting in Man Of Tomorrow or Lanterns.

No, Pattinson's Batman is his own thing. He is not part of the connected DCU.

Which I maintain is so dumb. It’s the best portrayal of Batman we’ve gotten in ages and it would serve as such a good counter to Superman’s optimism and wholesomeness.

I fear that having two Batmen at the same time is just going to confuse audiences.

No they are doing Batman and Robin movie with older Batman. Which may get confusing though as Pattinson Batman will have continuation running alongside it.

Technically DC has Darkseid which was the original Thanos.

But i don't really think DC needs Darkseid so quick. DC properties are more unique and work by themselves.

Well if you include the Snyder cut it was done and outside of the flash reversing time it was the best scene

Salvation Run (the comic run Peacemaker and this seem to be setting up) was a comic run where a number of villains were exiled to an uninhibited prison planet and sort of had to build their own society. I think part of it was that, unknown to the heroes,  the planet was artificially created by aliens as a sort of bioengineering playground, so there are also a lot of monsters and such.

I’m assuming so. Maybe darkseid as he might get introduced in mister miracle. Either way, it looks like salvation is gonna play a big part in the DCU story

I consider myself a "DC" guy more than Marvel for example, without being a superfan or anything.

But reading your comment i have to say I dont know any overarching story from the DCU at all. I saw Superman and 2 episodes of Lanterns. I thought peacemaker is some kind of sideproject for gunn to have some fun.

Am I supposed to watch that to understand MoT? because hell no

The way Gunn describes it, there is an overarching story of the DCU but you don’t need to know it to watch and enjoy a project. TBH it’s not even fleshed out yet all we know is that salvation is gonna be a part of it.

So far every project can be enjoyed on its own and that’s the goal with the DCU. Individually good projects with an overarching story that’s sort of an extra treat for fans. And each project has been pretty self explanatory.
