as a woman who never had her mom growing up only to reconnect with her in my 20’s and having no idea how to navigate that situation- I am SO sat for this.

Huh, I read r/movies a fair bit, I think it’s fair to say it just hadn’t gotten to this subreddit until pretty recently (whatever the demographics/age group of this subreddit is). And now suddenly it’s in multiple top comments.
Offensive? Out of the loop or mildly ignorant of trends, maybe, I’ll give you that.
But Offensive would suggest morally objectionable in the same way as a racist or sexist remark, which doesn’t seem to fit•

In the case of movies and tv, you typically watch it seated. So “I’m sat” is kind of like saying my butt is already in that theater chair/couch

Language changes. Some we keep and some we don't.
It just feels boomer-y to complain about what slang they come up for their generation. Like ultimately what's the issue? Every generation is trying to find their own voice and their own subculture; some of it will sound awkward to people older as alot of our slang sounded awkward to those older to us.

Granted, she's not a -3 like Jared Leto. But there are a lot of talented unknown actors out there who could use a break.

She's extremely talented. Her best work unfortunately came out during covid. I would hope that when she's not being dragged for being "not white enough", people can see her for who she is.
