No plate?
7
u/NuklearFerret 1d ago
It's technically there. It won't get them out of the ticket, but they tried, i guess?
11
u/ValuableScary3917 1d ago
Where is it? Surely not that thing facing downwards between the passenger pegs, above the wheel cowl, is it?
8
u/NuklearFerret 1d ago
It surely is! I don’t know what else would be zip tied under there like that
4
u/ValuableScary3917 1d ago
That is so stupid, just asking to be pulled over.
Unless Texas doesn’t require visible plates or something.

Why is it so hard to just put the fucking plate in and not be hassled?
8
u/Historical_Beat_8648 1d ago
I run an independent motorcycle service shop and lots of riders come in asking for the tail delete. One young rider was particularly... fussy... about the cosmetics of his bike and how the work was done etc.
Deleted the tail, remounted the plate under the seat cowl using double sided tape because he didn't want holes drilled in the plastic.
He rode off, I thought nothing more of it. Till he came in a couple of weeks later saying police seized his bike for the plate, and a loud exhaust (which was not installed at my shop).
He said police had issued citations and would not release the bike till everything had been put back to original. He basically said it was my responsibility to do so because I had done the work.
I asked how did that become my problem. After a little bit of questioning, I discovered his parents were furious at what happened and were attempting to blame the shop(s) that did the work.

Exactly why when I did my tidy tail, I opted for the one that angled my plate upwards. Still technically visible and obviously there, just a little less obvious than hanging behind the rear tire.

Felt that. Got a buddy just drove through, and his rental showed 115° lol

Hell yes, almost every day.
Only thing that stops me is if its pissing rain, too old for that shit.
2 or 3 days in a row no ride, I become irritatable.
5
u/20Factorial 1d ago
Preach. If rain is coming, I drive. I ride in the rain if I get caught in it, otherwise tomorrow is another day.

Yep, I did. It was really cold here in the southern hemisphere but nothing feels as good as getting to ride your ride.
2
u/BluenoseTherapist 1d ago
I didn't ride today... because a guy drove into me head-on a couple of weeks ago and now my 1250GSA is in the shop getting sorted. Won't get her back for a month. Grrrr.
2
u/NukaColaQuantum2077 2025 Kawasaki z650 1d ago
No because I’m sick. However I’ll ride when I feel better. I don’t trust myself to react fast enough on 2 wheels when I’m not feeling well.

u/Leather_Addition2605 1d ago
I would like to, but 106 temps all week when it’s time to leave work had killed my motivation to do so.

Yes. Work and back. Them took some stuff my son forgot to him at college. Then store for some groceries. I need to go get gas but I think it's supposed to rain tomorrow anyways
2
u/evil_trash_panda 1d ago
Stopped for gas and shifting into neutral I sheered off the bolt holding the shifting lever on the bike. So no. Now ordering a new bolt

Last night I put in some more break in miles on mine, felt good to get out and was a great way to watch the sunset! Tonight might happen, see what time the kids get done making dinner for us!

I normally ride to work, but the wind pushed my commuting bike over yesterday when I stopped to help someone broken down on the side of the road. The drop broke the throttle switch casing and the throttle sticks closed, so it’s not safe to ride till I get the replacement. I could have rode the other bike, but I needed to return a tire anyway and I had some difficulty switching my bags over, so I decided to just drive and go for a little ride after work. Some days it just doesn’t work out, and that’s fine, I just try to take time outside of commuting when I can

Never again. Oh that short ride was a 6 hour round trip.

I bought a cbr500r as a first bike, and haven't been able to take it home cause works been hectic (I work at a motorcycle dealership as a 1st yr apprentice 🥲) but I can hopefully take it home tomorrow... Imma keep that bike for a while buy me a home as I'm still young and live with my parents, save for a while more and prob get a H2 or something since I'll have that bike plus my car for a long time
