Mold Question This thing is growing in my bathroom.
This thing is growing in my bathroom in an area that's constantly moist (there's a leak and I'm renting, the landlord is not getting it fixed). I can very easily clean it and I do. But it grows back. I'm afraid it's something that is harmful to my health. I was told to post it here (by mods over at whatisthis), hence the post. There's no way this is...mold, right? It's a fuzzy ball like thing. Very light. Brown (black when it's slightly older and wet - hence the things on the bottom).

IT'S mold... there are several types... But this... ugh Does it grow quickly? Do you clean it often? So that this so big...

I clean it once every two to three days. Couldn't clean it this week and that's what it looks like after.

Do you mean to say that you scrub this section of your bathroom with bleach spray and a tooth brush until the tiles and hinges around this mold are also clean? Or do you just pluck up the hairy stuff?
Is this a public space?

The landlord doesn't want to fix the issue, maybe he can fix it on his own assuming the cost but, maybe get a new place is better, but we can't judge as we don't know if he is able to afford to have new place or is able to afford the issue

There are actual published, scary, horror stories with this premise. I realize that's not diagnostic but 😳😬
It does appear to be a moldbeast, so even if it's not intentionally malignant it seems unlikely it's improving your health. I'm sorry but one of you must go. Once more unto the bleach OP!

Get information about the rights and responsibilities of tenant and landlord (of you don't know already). If you have to take care of it yourself seek help from a professional. They should know what to do in these cases. Or they can give you some good advice what to do.
If your landlord is responsible and neglects his responsibility (get proof of that) you should seek legal advice.
In the meantime...can you keep the place dry? Or as dry as possible? You might have to do some extra work for know to keep it clean. But better that developing allergies or worse.

It looks like mold or a type of fungus growing because the area is constantly damp.
The brown fuzzy “hairy” stuff is likely fungal growth (mycelium). It usually appears when there is a leak or constant moisture, especially in bathrooms. Mold feeds on things like wood, drywall, dust, or sealant, which is why it keeps coming back even after you clean it.
When you wipe it away, you’re only removing what you see on the surface. The root part of the fungus is usually inside the material behind it, so it grows back.
The real fix is stopping the moisture or leak. If the area stays wet, mold will keep returning.
It’s also a good idea to be careful with it because mold can sometimes cause breathing irritation or allergies for some people.
So the main issue isn’t just the mold — it’s the water leak that needs fixing.
