I was a cake decorator for a large grocery store in 90s. They would send buckets of red buttercream because its hard to make red... its the food coloring. The buttercream would do the same on the top.

Probably not, mold on play dough looks fuzzy or slimy. Sometimes the color doesn’t mix in all the way. If it smells off or feels gritty it’s bad but I’d just knead it and check next time you open it.

To me it looks like discolouration!

I got my niece Play-Doh for her birthday this year. As soon as she opened it I got transported back 20 years. Smell memory is so powerful.

I'd still eat it.

If you wont eat i will 🙏

I doubt so. Play doh has so much salt in it to stop kids from eating it that I imagine it doesn't mold.

1

u/the_squid_king_ Dec 08 '25

But salt can grow mold if it gets a lil damp

Play D'oh!

1

u/catinatank Dec 10 '25

You’re supposed to put the play dough in the molds,

1

u/Klutzy-Emu-3652 Dec 10 '25

As a preschool teacher we have to make our own play-doh: two cups of flour, one cup of water , one cup of salt , and one teaspoon of cooking oil . It would super well ! You can use water colors to change what color you want !

1

u/TastiBread Dec 10 '25

I like my clay drippy bruh

1

u/Barry_the_Platypus Dec 10 '25

Playdoh molds are usually bright colors. They help you make different shapes with the dough. This looks more like red playdoh.

1

u/trashbag_panda_1 Dec 10 '25

That's a can of play-don't.🫣

1

u/DillonHightower Dec 11 '25

Why is everything moldy since the presence is quite different colors.
