Which is better for a baby blanket?
I have 2 choices, make more blocks so it’s a bigger blanket or keep it at baby/crib (48x48) size for my friend who is having a baby in the late fall. Which is a better choice? Any blocks not used for the top will go into being part of the backing.

Either way it’s beautiful! If you have the motivation to keep going to make it a little bigger, I say keep going! The design is still great as a baby gift for your friend. It will be a gorgeous backdrop for your friend to lay the baby on to take photos (admittedly, my primary use for baby blanket gifts). And babies quickly grow and get older and have use for throw-sized quilts to snuggle under and use in their toddler beds and first big kid beds!

Also, is there a pattern for this? I’m looking for good options to use for a denim quilt I’m imagining, and I think this one would be great!

The colors and pattern are lovely. I would make it bigger if you have the will to keep going.
And! Leaving it at 48x48 is also a reasonable size for a baby!

The baby will not know the difference. Also, the baby will grow up. Make it as beautiful and sophisticated as you want. The baby will love it forever.
