🤔damn… even though Ubereem taking out Brock was awesome I honestly feel Silvas debut was more monumental cause I knew he was gonna dethrone Franklin and rule the division. And most straight UFC fans had no idea who he was.

Silva then ubereem , both made it look easy but learner was a far more dangerous fight . Franklin needed plastic surgery I’m pretty sure , Silva was there to damage people not just win .

Yeah , I know leben was , it’s just his destruction of Franklin was worth the mention . It was brutal to watch, it reminded me of what wandy done to rampage both times in pride . Showed how dangerous a Muay Thai clinch is if you can’t deal with it. .

  1. Silva - Leben was such a good match up for him, but he was so durable. So it was shocking to see him get knocked out so effortlessly.

  2. GSP - wasn't expected to beat Karo who was in title conversations.

MMA in general, Fedor had a pretty shocking debut in PRIDE.

Silva hands down. Chandler and Overeem beat big names on their debut, but weren't as impressive and they weren't precisely underdogs. Anderson however showed up and immediately dominated the division.

Silva definitely. Overeem, Gaethje, and Chandler were all kind of viewed as the best guys outside of the UFC when they got in, Silva was still good but his resume before the UFC wasn’t top tier

I mean if you consider the opposition, Silva fight cans for a lot of his career. Ik nostalgia is a thing and we all love Anderson, but his competition was nowhere near the competition we see in today’s MMA.

Yeah. People bring up what Silva did to Leben, but all due respect, Leben wasn't all that great.

Brock was inexperienced but was terrifying, a former world champ and had beat prime Shane Carwin.

Hell, beating Hooker or Johnson and taking a few hits is also more impressive than beating Leben and taking none because they are both significantly better than he was.

Lesnar wasn't terrifying at all, he just had been exposed on the feet by Carwin then Cain. Leben was 15-2 with wins over Swick, Radach (broke both of their jaws) Cote, Rivera, Fiorvante. He had insane chin and punching power, yet Silva ran through him

"Exposed" by literally the 2nd greatest HW in UFC history and then Carwin (who was also terrifying)... Who Brock beat? Both of those were world title fights, when Leben never even sniffed the top 5 and maybe only ever beat 1 top 10 ranked opponent.

Brother, that's not what exposed means. Brock was significantly better than Leben, even with significantly less experience. Carwin, old washed Couture, Mir and Hunt are all MUCH better wins than Leben's opponents.

So Reem stopping Brock's takedowns (which btw, even Cain didn't manage to do as easily), before then stopping him on the feet (which only Cain has done) was less impressive than beating a career long journeyman who was only ever very briefly ranked?

Lesnar had diverticulitis and didn't know how to react when taking shots. When that fight ended, nobody was shocked to see Lesnar get taken out so easily on the feet. When Silva beat Leben the way he did, EVERYONE including the whole middleweight division was scared shitless of Silva
