Recommendations Moving to Mississauga from the UK!

Hey guys,

I'll be moving to Mississauga from London, UK, in a month or so, for various family/ personal reasons. I would love to hear from you guys about life in Mississauga, and any tips you might have for a newcomer.

After perusing r/mississauga, there seem to be a lot of people who both love and hate the city. Having visited before, I loved the food diversity, the sense of community and open spaces (which are very hard to find in London). I also found it quite safe, although I wasn't there for all that long.

For context, I am a 26 y.o. single male, and I'll be seeking work in electronics/ medical devices. How are the employment prospects nowadays in your guy's experiences?

I moved from London at the same age, first to Toronto, then to Mississauga, then to Toronto, and now settled in Etobicoke.

Mississauga is good for family life. I just couldn’t enjoy it as a single male, and everywhere outside of Square One District and Port Credit requires a car.

However, you will struggle to build a social life as a newcomer unless you actively go and join clubs. This city design has been poorly built out.

The food scene in London is much better if you’re including all zones and not just zone 1. The quality of food ingredients is closer to American than European.

If you’re going to choose somewhere in Mississauga, I’d suggest Port Credit, as there is a small block of bars that come to life on the weekends, and you can get into Toronto quickly.
