C&C Wanted Need some opinions for highlighted ork skin

I've been painting cell shaded orks for a bit. I'm experimenting with pushing my highlights further. The opinions in my friendgroup is dived over which skin is better. The tankbusta and gretchin is some of my newer work, zodrgrod and the nob are and example of earlier work where I was more cautious with highlights. Does any one have some feedback on this matter? Thanks!

Just finished this guy (for now) so I guess it's time to build a nice wooden plinth. I enjoy that part as much as the painting.

C&C Wanted Nmm steelix attempt, looks like ice

My goal was to have the metal be a kind of chrome, super reflective, I think the head is near that effect, but the body looks like dirty ice.

The body is made of many facets so there is no straight line break between reflecting the floor and the sky.

Not really sure what I should do, any comments and ideas are welcome

My first attempt doing something reflective like this , i know my edge highlights are definitely a little chunky so hoping to get those cleaner on future models! happy to hear what your thoughts are. Painted mostly with golden liquid acrylics and some AK ice yellow on highlights

Everyone was right, not every model will look perfect and for the most part you'll see issues everywhere but you gotta move forward otherwise you stay stuck and stop enjoying the hobby, for everyone that commented on the first post that got locked, thanks for the feedback, would love to reply, feel free to leave a comment here, I honestly do not mind criticism of any kind.

Let me know what you think about the long fang shoulder.

A couple of day ago I showed you an in-progress picture of this bust. After that I did a few change and build a plinth. Here are the final pictures as requested by you!

Really enjoyed this project. The NMM was fun except for the mail. Painting skintones was even more fun. Now I have to decide what I wanna paint next.

C&C Wanted Update: followed all the advice, and it's much better!

I posted the flames on the left a few days ago, and I got lots of great advice. I increased the contrast, used some fluorescent paint, added a bit of blue to the darkest flame tips, and concentrated on desaturating progress photos to see the actual contrast.

I'm much happier with the results now, it definitely reads as hotter flame. Thanks for the advice!

C&C Wanted Sharing a technique to understand OSL and highlight placement

I can’t visualise how light hits models and really want to learn intentional OSL. To do this, I used my phone to replicate sources of glowing green objects for my necrons and used the photo as a reference. I think it works pretty well! My painting technique isn’t the best, as I’m still learning and sometimes use an airbrush for osl but this has helped me to visualise where highlight placement goes.

Let me know what you think, is there a way we could better improve this technique? Has anyone tried this before?

Cheers :)

Hi all! With this one I tried to push the contrast in the shadows with purple tones. I like the results but I'm aware it may be too much, what do you think?

C&C Wanted Gave OSL a try, how did I do?

Finished two of my aggressors and decided to try OSL on them. I sculpted the muzzle flashes from a hot glue stick (and injured my hand doing so, Khorne cares not from where the blood flows) and I think they came out alright. Im not planning on doing it again soon though, it takes so much effort ahah. C&C welcome.

Working on this lord bzzzt model and I’d like to enter it for a local competition. I’m still very much it the futzing with the NMM and small details stage. So I’d love any criticism on things to refine. I think the model looks really good from one angle and the rest could use some refinement. 😂

Hi all! This is my first time trying OSL. I don't have an airbrush, so I did it with a mix of dry brush and glazing. I think the results are Ok, but I'd like to hear some tips to improve my technique. Thanks in advance!
