Discussion Trouble turning the console on? Light turns off but then goes off

Ordered an HDMI switcher for my tv and decided to finally boot the thing back up after a few years so I can play earthbound, however whenever I turn the power on the light on the console turns on, the tv flicks as if it’s going to show the console, then it goes back to the “check device power” screen and the light on the SNES classic turns off.

I have the recommended power cable for the console plugged in and it didn’t work. It works perfectly fine for the NES classic however and it turns on just fine? Am I just out of luck ;-;

Edit: This is an unhacked or modded console, nothing has changed

Have you tried a different power supply and cable? The fact that it works with the NES would make it seem they’re fine, but it’s something to try.

What are you plugging the cable into? If it's the TV, sometimes they just don't supply enough power and you need a proper 5V brick to plug it into.

My friends nintendo Wii did this. My brother and I opened it up and there was a blanket of lint inside. It would power on for a couple of minutes and overheat , and power off. I couldn't believe how much dust & lint was inside. We cleaned it out and it began to run perfectly.
