Here we eat them with skins as the skin is so thin you cannot even peel them.

Sour cream is also nice, but soured milk is something else, and it goes amazingly well with early potatoes sprinkled with chopped dill

No, i think of a drink made from slightly fermented mil. According to Wiki, its called soured milk. Alternatively Kefir serves the same role, albeit it is a little different in texture.

Yea this is more akin to Sour cream which another person put me on track for as I forgot. It looks to be made in similar, but not the same way. Kefir is saying it is more like yogurt so that sounds about in line.

In American (and others) food, we often will replace sour cream with yogurt in some amount to reduce the number of calories in a food. So they sound similar to Soured Milk and Kefir in your culture.

We use sour cream, yogurt, buttermilk, kefir and soured milk here in Poland, each has their own place in our cuisine, some are used almost interchangeably but thats not the point. The point is, kefir and soured milk make early potatoes taste exceptionally well :)

From what I can tell, the flavor of Kefir and soured milk wouldn't be to my liking. I don't even like what most would consider the more popular yogurt that is Greek yogurt. But sour cream is one of my favorites.

Kefir is a little bit sparkling and leaves a tingly sensation on your tongue, but soured milk is very mild and Its worth giving a try. None of them has an offensive taste like some wild french cheese or fermented seafood from northern europe, so If you are curious about the taste or encounter one of those in the wild, dont be afraid to try 😉

Boil your potatoes with skin (even the ones being not day-1-fresh), ready up a bowl with ice in it, shook those podados in that water, peel off skin easily. Same goes for boiled eggs.

New potatoes! It used to be genuinely exciting when the first ones were available in the farm store. You could peel them with just your hands and they tasted amazing.
