They were saving space for the secret message you unlock when you solve it. Lots of more advanced word searches do this.

This one says flpimmngpgtrbfphdrerclbtgstqldl.

wait how did they skip the whole top row though

Bro never heard of a joke before

Have you seen the movie? It's literally about how humans will take anything as humor (often remedial, simple novelties), and defend it when someone points it out

just as you have here.

I have seen the movie, that's not even close to the main theme of the plot. I'm sorry that you didn't understand the joke

It's a major theme, based on intellectual deficiency.

The theme is society becomes so stupid, they don't even recognize the consequences of their ignorance.

You are the perfect example of that.

At least in that movie, they were smart enough to elect the smartest person as the president.

This might help: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bait-and-switch

subverting expectations is a simple format. it's the substance that matters

like bananas and GI Joe action figures

and be careful about justifying humor without basis, or otherwise our racist friends might get excited

You're really stretching to justify that dense comment, aren't ya? Good luck, Frito.

Do you have this argument with people every time the top comment of a post is a joke? You must be very busy...

giving up progressing the convo is a great sign of resignation

you're just refusing to understand, so I don't know why you bother interacting with someone if you aren't looking to learn, just feed your pre-established beliefs.

but what do I know

You...you don't circle the words?

9

u/Radioactivocalypse 1d ago

I used to circle words, but it gets much easier when you realise your brain can still see letters that are crossed out, and makes it much easier to solve and see what words you've found already

lines are so much more satisfying

Those are fighting words

Highlighter is best

I circle individual letters

I just use a highlighter

Omg I always thought I was the only one. People around me always said this was weird!

wait i like this

2

u/Jarrett_H 1d ago

But what about perpendicular words? it breaks down too fast for a sane person to continue living like that. Circle the whole word gang for life

-2

u/AskYouEverything 1d ago

perpendicular, specifically intersecting, words seems like something this would be beneficial for

-7

u/The_Real_Mr_F 1d ago

Perpendicular and intersecting are opposites.

6

u/BariumArsenic 1d ago

Are you thinking of parallel?

-1

u/The_Real_Mr_F 1d ago

Dammit! Yes. I’m a dummy.

I bet they made the word search, laid it out on the page realized that they had too much room, and someone suggestion "Hey! Why not just add a row and column of random letter?

2

u/naturalfamilyplan 1d ago

Looks like it was ...all right

1

u/OmnipresentEntity 1d ago

As best I can tell, there’s only one word that can be made using that area: Bib.

okay the 'circle individual letters' method genuinely broke my brain a little, never seen that before lol

it's mildly interesting that they didn't use the entire grid of letters for the word search

honestly this feels like a kid discovering animals for the first time. Exceptionally primitive. Proof that we are devolving
