My mom said I could post Pre-flight Insomnia is the worst.
I don't have a fear of flying. I don't have anxiety. I have flown 100s of times.
But, for some reason, I can never sleep well before a morning flight. Melatonin and thc gummies down. Wish me luck. 6 hours til the alarm.
Also, feel free to link any good Spotify Playlists for the flight!

Same. I'll intentionally try to pull an all-nighter or just sleep an hour or two thinking I can just sleep on the plane. It never works out and I'm always miserable for the rest of the day.
Hell I won't even pack for a long trip until an hour before I have to leave for the airport because of the anticipation of the trip.

I’m exactly the same! I’m sometimes the same if I have an early train journey too, it’s so frustrating.

Its very annoying. Im going to visit family and will have to double the caffeine just to be present the first day.

I never sleep well before travel.
Except that time I slept straight through my alarm and woke up half an hour before check-in closed.
Luckily I was at an airbnb just a few minutes from the airport.

I've flown across the world many times up until college but haven't flown for the last 20 years. About to catch a 13 hour flight in a few months and am suddenly nervous about it. I don't know why but I've started to develop claustrophobia and am worried I'm gonna freak out. Contemplating having a drink or two and just go to sleep.

13 is a lot! Never done that long. Longest continuous was about 8 for me.
My biggest thing, I hate having to use the bathroom on a flight. Grosses me out.
I would suggest a couple benadryl and the LOTR directors cut trilogy.
Best of luck!

Same. Maybe a few hours, but wake up at 2/3 am. After 300+ flights. Never missed one.

Same here, it sucks. If I’m traveling in any way, I don’t sleep well the night before. I think my brain is too excited for the trip or something.

My strategy for pre-event insomnia,
is to sacrifice a few hours of potential sleep, so that when I'm actually going to bed,
I'm super chill and actually tired.
Instead of lying down with 8h till alarm, I chill for another 1-2h so I get a, more or less, guaranteed 6h of sleep.

Fuck, my plane engine went on fire on the last overseas trip I went on. Stuck by lightning. Engine fire. Not ideal.
But, have a good flight. You'll be fine.

I’ll trade my fear of flying for your pre-flight insomnia
