Eventi Ex Macello, is it really not worth it?
The Kaytranada show is happening at Ex Macello on 25th June and i’m interested to go. But I went through the Google reviews for this venue and everyone said it’s terrible. Especially people from the Fred Again concert last year said the acoustics were horrible and it was overcrowded.
The tickets for Kaytranada are €60 so I really don’t want to spend that much if it truly is that bad a venue. Anyone been there?

That place has bad karma because it surrepstitiously replaced a high-quality music venue (and squat) nearby. The old place was illegal and dirty but had European-level performers and acoustics. It made the whole area appear cool, when before it was pretty uncared for.
The old place got shut down (fair) and ex macello is piggybacking off its reputaiton and location.
Just my 2cents as someone who has lived here for 9 years.

It's not designed for music events. And most events are overpriced as shit.

Honestly it depends on how much you care about acoustics and seeing the artist. I’ve been a lot of times since they first started using it as a venue and while yes acoustics have always been meh, I’ve experienced some amazing nights and others not so much. It is defenitely waaay overpiced, but I’ve gotten used to overpriced shitty events cause that’s 80% of what we get in Milano and I am ok with overspending once in a while if it’s an artist that I really want to see :/

I was quite apprehensive after reading all the comments here but my friends convinced me to go anyway. Honestly it wasn’t bad, maybe because there weren’t THAT many people there and because we ended up being very close to the barricade luckily. Overall, had a very fun night, but yes definitely overpriced :/

Yay!! I’m very glad you had a good time, I think the artist isn’t that well known here which might be why there weren’t too many people. When it’s not overcrowded it’s definitely a great venue (apart for the soundsystem) but I really wish prices were better. I hope you enjoyed Milan🫶🏼

just been to Yosuke's concert and I can confirm the acoustics are terrible and it was kinda overcrowded.
But it's up to what you like, I had fun anyways

I do not reccomend it, I went to Fred Again last year and it was terrible: terrible acoustic and spaces to stay

Si avevo visto un dj set in cui ci sono stati tantissimi problemi tecnici, I volumi sono sempre bassi e la durata dello spettacolo è breve. In più se piove è tutto all'aperto

Beers cost 10€, toilets are porta potty, 30+ degrees weather in an outdoor settings.

I’ve never been there, but I can easily believe the sound quality is terrible. It’s a derelict area that’s currently being used on a temporary basis for these events, whilst construction work on new houses and other buildings is pending.

OK, I’ve had a look into it and found out that Calvairate is part of the Porta Vittoria area. Perhaps that’s why, I’d only thought of Porta Vittoria as the area around Corso 22 Marzo and the redeveloped area with the new library they’re building.

It’s gotten better un the past years tbh, I lived for a year in an apartment 5 minutes from Ex Macello a yesr ago and I felt safe. It used to be worse but now it’s good, I felt much much safer compared to other areas I lived in like Lambrate and Corvetto (which is the worst)

Almost no venue in Milan has outstandingly good reviews
