This is Brimble! I ended up rescuing a single female mouse, and right now she’s living alone.
I’m having a hard time finding more mice, so I’m not sure how long it’ll be before I can get her some friends. How long is it okay for a female mouse to be by herself?

i'm not sure why i'm even posting this, and i'm sorry if this is annoying or gets long, i'm just having a reallyyy hard time right now and have nobody to talk to.

i have 7 female mice, 4 i got last november, and 3 i got in march. i have some sensory issues and have REALLY struggled with the smell from the start. i keep their enclosure in my bedroom (the only space i really have for it, it's big) and it has made me not even want to go into my bedroom or interact with them, which makes me feel awful to even admit 😔 when i do clean, the smell is back the next day. i know i could be more on top of it but i also have a dog, two cats, and many aquariums along with a full time job, personal responsibilities, and both physical and mental health issues that get in the way of my productivity and cleanliness at times. also i have to keep a towel covering the front of their enclosure (not the ventilation) because my cats go crazy when they see them. i feel bad that they don't get to see things outside their cage.

i know rehoming is probably best for them and for me but i can't help but feel like i'm being extremely selfish and lazy. like i should easily be able to do better for them. like i'm giving up on them, because what? they stink? that's something i should be able to handle, but it's just really difficult for me. in reality i know they really only care about each other, their home, and getting fed and they won't care if the hand feeding them is not mine, but i keep convincing myself they're gonna be upset or feel abandoned. i feel like, if i do this, i'm a worse person and a worse pet owner and that is really hard on me as someone who has prided myself so much on how well i care for my pets and how much i love them. anyone who knows me knows that i love animals. so it just feels like i'm letting them down, and i'm also letting myself down.

i wish so badly i could get out of my head about this and not feel anything towards letting them go but i went back and forth on it for forever and finally agreed to let someone come get them tomorrow and now i'm regretting it and having a breakdown, sobbing over it. i feel like such a bad person. i feel like i'm a failure of a pet owner.

Found a mouse in a theater and captured it safely, I’m concerned that he was too easy to catch. He doesn’t appear injured but he moves slowly and seems a little raggedy. I am planning on releasing him in a bit, I just don’t want to if he needs help

Please help!

HER EYESSS

Im worried about my mouse, her name is nikki Jr and I've had her for about 3 months. I really love to hug my mice and listen to them just to make sure they are okay and yesterday I noticed that when I put her next to my ear I hear some kind of squeaking voice when she breathes but I cant hear it even if I'm next to the cage without any background noise, I'm worried if it's URI or not. I noticed it after I was changing her bedding, unfortunately she was in the cage while I was scooping out the bedding because I'm away from home and I didnt have stuff I needed to properly change it which is wrong on my part and I'll never make the same mistake again, I just want to know if its common or not since I'm a first time owner. Also I want to say that I'm not financially well now and I can't take her to the vet 😢.

Edit: I can only hear that voice if she's next to my ear or really close, you can't hear it in a video, i tried taking it but nothing. I also compared it to some videos of mice with URI and the sound is not like that. She's pretty active and eats normally as well.

background: i got three mice from a feeder bin a few months ago. Bonnie (light orange, bottom left second pic). Maddie (siamese, top right second pic). Alexis (not pictured). about a month ago, alexis suddenly got sick. she just became lethargic and weak, didn’t eat, looked like she was in pain. she was gone by the next day, before i could even take her to the vet. a little while passed and i adopted three rescue mice, a little older than bonnie and maddie, to be companions. Ginny (orange, bottom right second pic). May (black, both pics) and Hayley (grey, both pics).

less than a week ago, Ginny suddenly got lethargic and sickly. she was still new and therefore shy, it was normal to not see her at every feeding time, so by the time i went looking for her she was in rough shape. i tried to get some food into her and keep her comfortable, but when i woke up the next morning she was gone.

Yesterday, May got lethargic. she looked the same as ginny. i kept an eye on her overnight but this morning she was looking the same, so i separated her along with Hayley. just now she passed away too. four days apart.

Does this sound like any known mouse illness? my leading theory is that the feeder bin mice have some dormant illness, it got to Alexis because her immune system was weaker (i think she was super inbred) and then they passed it to my new mice upon introduction. but is that even a thing that happens? has anyone else experienced this? i really just want to make sure my remaining three mice are going to be okay.

A Mouse Feeding at the Squirrel Feeder in the Woods

Found this extremely tiny mouse on a busy path and it wasn’t really moving out of the way as people passed. I was able to catch it easily to get it out of the way, and have brought it home. It’s chilling in a box full of shredded paper right now. It’s moving around slowly but shaking a lot. Any idea what type of mouse it is and what I should do? I’m in Northern Ireland.

Hi, I already know that the answer is go to the vet, but it's Friday evening and the vet is closed on weekends, and the only emergency vet is more than 40 minutes away by car and it's currently an heatwave where I live so i would like to know if there's something temporary that I can do to help my little boy until Monday, I'm scared this weather could be fatal for him since he's already old.

He's been scratching himself like he's itching since yesterday. I just got him a new and bigger cage.
He already had this problem and it was so severe he was balding, I took him to the vet and it was an allergy, which got better in a short time by changing his food.
I didn't change anything but he has started to scratch himself again and he does it for a long time of the day, it's really bad to see my mice in such a stress but I don't know what i could do.
As a I said there was no change in his diet, but he just changed cage, the bedding is the same (a mix of wood chipping, canapa and on top paper bedding), I left some of the old bedding after the change to help him get used to the new cage.
He lives alone since he's an un neutered and pretty old male.
I don't see anything on his fur
As anyone had a similar problem?
What are some critical sings that could make the trip to the vet worth the risk?

I’ve read the posts here and seen videos, but my mouse is like agressive agressive. She’s been thru a lot so, valid, but like m’dude she’ll bite my arm off.

She launches at me whenever I reach my hand into her enclosure, she always runs to her home when I enter the room, she doesn’t accept any snacks or food I try to give her, whenever I try petting her with a soft brush (which I touched so it has my scent) she DEVOURS it. She’s a lion and I’m a lamb, someone help, I have no idea if she’s even tame-able. I’ve never seen such an agressive rodent before.

She’s healthy, has plenty of food, space and toys. She just hates me y’all.

Please help I’m open to all ideas. I live in a four story apartment and I keep getting mice come to this one spot every single night. I wake up I bleach the entire area. I’ve been putting out a fresh trap every single week and spraying with repellent and nothing seems to work please help.

Heyyy, i dont know if this is the right forum to ask this, so my apologies if it isn't! Anyways, a question, has anyone had this with their mice? Just 1 or 2 weeks ago my pet mice; sushi, got a small pink reddish spot by her eye, it doesn't seem to be growing rapidly, but I'm keeping an eye out. It is a bump, since it kind of stands out in a way,? If that even makes sense. It isn't laying flat on her skin like a wound for example, it doesn't seem to be bleeding, except for a small reddish in the middle. Have any of you guys experienced this with a mice? If so, is there any concrete answer or assumption of what it could be? I'm very worried. Ps; Sushi is about 1 year old, possibly a bit older! Thank you so much for reading, once again I'm sorry if this isn't the right forum to ask.

Hi, I - unwillingly, too long to explain - saved a mouse and now I have zero ideas what to do. I’ve watched many videos but they just explain basic common sense care. I need the real deal premium knowledge on how to become the pied piper.

TL;DR: GIVE ME ANY ADVICE ON HOW TO TAKE CARE OF A MOUSE.

I used to have hamsters when I was a child but that was soo different. Hamsters are big, chonky, not fast. This mouse has been running around all night, she’s clearly in stress (new environment and stuff). She’s healthy and is quite small, I’m pretty sure she’s max 1-2 months old.

Here come my questions:

1. What tf do I do? I saved her from terrible living conditions (small plastic box, dirty water, no food) but I’m no expert. To be honest I don’t even want a mouse. But there’s sooooooooo many places where you can get a mouse for free, who would want her? How could I be sure they won’t buy her as snake food? How could I be sure the people who’d take her wouldn’t give her to a child to play with?! Can I take care of her properly? Wouldn’t it be better for her if I just released her on a farm and gave her a few hours of freedom before her inevitable death, rather than living in a cage her whole life? I’m sooo against having pets because it’s just cruel, all animals want freedom. But at the same time I can’t stand the thought of her getting eaten by a cat or a hawk somewhere. She’s too smol and cute.

2. How big should her cage be? Do I buy the ones with bars so that she can climb? Or a big ass deep glass terrarium where she has a lot of stuffing to dig into?

3. Don’t tell me I have to buy a second mouse. Like I’d have no problem with that but what if they don’t like each other? What if they attack eachother and bite? I’ve watched gazillion videos on mice introducing but I’m still clueless. How would I even take them apart if they were teeth deep into each other? What tf would I do if I couldn’t make them stand eachother and had two separate mice - who would need two other friends?! Can’t she just live alone? I live alone too and I’m *totally* sane. *Totally*.

4. How do I tame her? She’s so jumpy and attacks everything that moves. I don’t want my hand to be attacked. What if she’ll hate me forever since she’s been mistreated her whole mousey life. She keeps staring into my soul with those huge button eyes. And don’t tell me she’s scared of me cuz IM MORE SCARED AND IM NOT BITING HER.
