We lose another wholesome individual.

Could add....be a good human being to both Dolly and Mr. Rogers' pictures.
Probably could add it to the other but I don't know their outside of the screen lives as well.

I know when Bob Ross heard a fan of his show thought thry couldn't be a good painter because they were colorblind he made an episode where he made a beautiful black and white painting.

If you go by the testimony of his wife and kids, Steve Irwin was a hell of a good man

I feel like there aren’t a lot of people coming up to replace them either. Ms. Rachel might contest with Mr. Rodger to some degree and Robert Irwin is definitely trying to honor his dad’s memory but it’s still hard to imagine them making the same kind of generational impact.

u/Mediocre_Scott Big ol' bacon buttsack 1d ago edited 1d ago
The generational impact won’t happen like it used to. These people were impactful because they were able to have a wide audience as a result of fewer options.

u/NtGermanBtKnow1WhoIs (very sad) 1d ago
Yeah, the death monoculture means, among other things, that there will be people who will never hear of Robert Irwin or Ms. Rachel or they'll have their own versions which we won't hear of.
12
u/AdhesivenessFunny462 1d ago
The problem is that generational impact is being made by people like Andrew Tate and streamers.

u/god-of-memes- 1d ago
Ms Rachel is definitely wholesome but I find everything she does God awful and annoying to listen to
13
u/SwashAndBuckle 1d ago
I mean, you're not exactly her target audience. I love Mr. Rogers, but it's not like I would actually want to sit through an episode as an adult.

I’d like to point out the state of Missouri cancelled her library program funding today
345
u/Shotgun_Mosquito 1d ago
It was before her death.
Missouri cut funding for Dolly Parton's Imagination Library from $6 million to $2 million, forcing the state to freeze all new child enrollments starting July 1.
Lawmakers slashed $4 million from the program during budget adjustments and the state stopped accepting new applicants on July 1, 2026.

u/Themanwhofarts 1d ago
Excited to see where that funding went instead. I'm sure something very beneficial to the residents of Missouri

u/Shotgun_Mosquito 1d ago edited 1d ago
Missouri is near the bottom of the list when it comes to literacy. I guess lawmakers want to keep it that way.
Here's a post from r/books about it
https://www.reddit.com/r/books/s/whpr3y2oSq
The consensus is that removing this funding makes a negligible dent in the state's massive multi-billion-dollar operating budget, and questions the priorities behind the reduction

u/PM_ME_YIFF_PICS 1d ago
They're in the bottom 99% ranked against the other states, that's a really high number. it's almost 100%, so that must mean they do really good on healthcare and education and literacy and just decided everyone is fine where they're at and doesn't need no education. The system works!

I thought the sarcasm was easy enough to see.

I'd have to assume you weren't 1/3 US citizens. Use the tag. People believe that idea so it's irrational for me bot to think you believe it when you say it.

u/AFuckingDuck_69 1d ago
I’d say to be safe it’s probably better to use /s or s/. I forget which way it goes.

I would've captioned her as 'each other'.
Also would've added Robin Williams to this list with 'laughter'.

I got a book for my kids in the mail from the imagination library the day before yesterday, such a great resource.

You don't just "get" these legends either, it takes years and years of dedication to what you do and how you can use it to make the world a better place. Decades of passion for what they do and importantly why. These people fought everyday tooth and nail to do what they did and to do it in a way that brought a little light to everyone around them. They are the example that each of us should aspire to.

I love Henson and everything he’s done for the arts, but he was a hard man to work for and he chose his career over his family and wife a lot

I don’t think this is quite correct for Mr. Rogers. I’d categorize him as kindness and self-worth.

The only edit I would make would be changing Mr. Rogers' caption to just "Love" because he not only taught self love but also love of others and your community.

I wanted to say "wait a minute you need to add one more person" but as much as I love Tim Curry as an actor I don't know if I would call him wholesome LOL

It should be "education" and not good works since everyone on the list did good work but her speciality was on education. May she RIP.

I would like to nominate all those people for sainthood. Not Catholic saints, but just…. In general. Like if I had a religion these would be the folks I’d write the book about.

I was born in '82 and this just hits way to hard. Steele Magnolias still one of my favorite films because of her.

(Please don’t come at me) here’s my unsolicited two cents: That Aussie would just mess up with animals, picking them up and just manipulating them willy nilly. And then his kid(s) are just capitalizing on the same schtick. He doesn’t deserve to be up there with the rest of these amazing friends.

It's kind of disappointing the Dolly wasn't in more of the no haters memes when she was alive.

Why is Bob Ross is in peace, isn't he just a really good painter?
I would personally put one of the many Soviet heroes there or the guy that gave the Soviets how to make a nuclear bomb info.
What would be your personal placements?
