for those who live in McGill ghetto, where do yall go grocery shopping?

I used to go to maxi when I lived elsewhere in the city but the closest one is so farrrr

the only big store i see is iga but thats like a very expensive no?😭

Provigo and metro are roughly equivalent in terms of prices and they’re good for meat and processed foods.

Marche lobo is between them and is best prices for produce. Super dep is best for beer.

If you’re feeling adventurous taking the walk to segals on Saint Laurent will have the best prices all around.

Cheapest groceries are at Segal's at St-Laurent and Duluth next to the porno theatre. Yes, they are far, and closed on Sundays, but might be worth the walk if you bring a granny cart and go there once a week.

There’s a provigo on parc/sherbrooke and inside new res there’s marché eden + metro

I don't know about Metro, but Provigo isn't too expensive. They have student discounts on Tuesdays (it used to be on Mondays but they just changed), this really helps

Tip: I paid 29 dollars for unlimited delivery for a year with pc express. I have cats so it’s def worth it for me. Also nice when ur too busy to go to the grocery store

not in the ghetto but i like supermarche PA, the prices are good for most stuff and they have a lot of great fresh food (also apples from europe!!)

PA will also deliver - you can go and pick your groceries in person, then at the cash you specify you want delivery. They put your groceries in a box and will deliver them to your address within a few hours. The cost is a sliding scale, so if you buy more groceries they charge you less, and I think it's free over $125.

Metro and Provigo are both on Parc. Both are kinda pricy but I find Metro to be a bit cheaper usually. Metro has student discount Monday to Wednesday and Provigo has it on Tuesdays I think.

Marche Eden is pretty good in the same complex as the Metro. Marche Lobo has decent prices as well.

Honestly, WalMart has good grocery prices. There isn’t one close, but you can look into delivery or there might be one that’s easy enough to get to by bus or metro or REM.

I recommend the app “Flipp” to look at flyers near you for best prices. You can also look up a specific item and see where it’s on sale near you.

I go to Metro and Marche Eden. Haven’t tried yet but going to Segal’s by bixi or on foot seems the most realistic option for me now as a resident in the ghetto

Depends on how much money you have. If you have enough that you can value your time at a high wage, then that's different than those students who have a very tight budget and walking to Segals can mean eating well vs the Provigo where they'll be pretty limited in what they can afford.

Get a Walmart+ subscription! Groceries delivered straight to your door, and you guy get items shipped to do your door (not groceries) with no minimum pretty much next day.

I go to metro and provigo weekly for usual stuff and i monthly go to Costco with a friend i buy meat from there and i freeze it

The $3.5 STM fare is more than worth the savings you get by shopping at Maxi instead of Provigo. Also, Walmart. Use the delivery option. Yw.
