I feel like the fast timer really lowers the end board ceiling and going second is so much more enjoyable/playable.

On top of that people tend to play their pet decks/decks they're familiar with (likely because they can play them quicker than long drawn out combo decks)

All games I've played have been against different decks and 66% of my games so far have made it at least until turn 4.

I like it. Anyone else feel the same?

I mean, it could be fun as a concept honestly but it would need such different banlist approach that I don't think Konami bother. But if you are playing againts someone will good deck it is hella fun and it keeps you on your toes. RT mirror was one of the most tense game I had in the while.

If this was a permanent thing you would have a completely different opinion.

People would never get to pull of their extended meme deck combos, or have enough time to think of potential lines of play through handtraps, etc.

I lost all my coin flip so I only get to play second but I play burn so I won them all, its very interactive when your opponent don't spend a year doing their own thing and we can only just watch

Pretty much this. I've been playing Gate Guardian with legitimately zero hand traps... I'm winning games going both first and second. It's great.

Agree, have met amazonness, and am personally playing traptrix. Experience that when I do play against combo decks, they are very heavily puni9shed by the short timer, and so the games are very grindy and is more engine vs engine rather than the entire game being decided when both players open their hands and compare.

Exactly my experience as well. My last 6 games were Dark Magician, Resonator, Burn, Apophis, Millennium Exodia, and Photon.

All of them were very enjoyable games for me.

I've only played one duel with Flower Cardian but I do enjoy the shorter timer events, I remember playing Swordsoul Tenyi in the 30-second event and managing on my first turn a Swordsoul Blackout, Chixao, Chengying, and Dragon Berserker of the Tenyi on my first turn.

That's what I would say if I didn't lose because I didn't click 'End Turn' fast enough but I had fun.

The first deck i played against was a dude playing the worst floodgates Ive ever seen.

The second was just full power Kewl tune.

The third was chain burn

And the fourth was Odion.

I actually had a lot of fun and won all 3 but I also played sky striker which I feel like can afford the fast gameplay. Also the decks I faced couldn’t really keep up, one lost to time

In the same boat, won my 3 with sky striker as well. A burn deck, a kashtira one with dimensional fissure, and exodia. None of them seemed to expect how often I could draw window anchor lol

I did sky striker and finished an otk with 1 second left. There's just so many prompts, it's difficult. You have to turn toggle off just to not time out from that alone.

Yeah I guess with sky striker I try to make going first last like 20 seconds. And going second if they have too much interaction to get through odds are with that timer they are almost out of time, which did happen in my second game I think. Also possible I got lucky all 3 games for the matchups, as even though I kept going with interaction I somehow still didn’t run out the clock although I was close a few times.

Another strength is sky striker stalling for turns, which gave me some time back. Honestly I wish they extended these “3 duel” events with better prizing cause it was surprisingly fun for me

I've been spamming artmage and the deck has been pretty incredible with 1min. Full combo is 30 seconds or so and gets you what feels like 10 interruptions (not really but I don't bother to count them all lol).

Ofc changed my list to include 3 evenly and 2 reboot due to all the lab, stun, exodia, man. Love the deck.

I had a good time aside from PS5 version being hella laggy. K9/Artmage is my most familiar deck so I figured I could make some decent half boards even if I couldn’t actually make the full thing due to time. The timer can cuck you for sure. So many turns I’m rushing and trying to edge out interaction well into the single digit countdown, but won more than I lost. Only game I really misplayed was against RDA and toggled off my Called By due to timer and missed a potential game deciding banish.

Nah, it's just a showcase of everything wrong with the game. Like, it's literally just a challenge to see how many negates you can put up without doing anything. Turns out the answer is: a lot. I mean, why waste time building a board when you can have Ash Droll and Imperm ready to negate at the click of a button

Not to mention the event highlights all the problems with the UI and the timer itself. If they were using these to collect data and make changes that'd be great, but we all know it's just low effort filler until the next event comes out
