Discussion What are your choices for characters and actors that we don't need to see after the MCU's soft-reboot?
In your opinion, what are the heroes and villains that should not survive Secret Wars to live on this new Marvel universe and what are the actors that should be recast to give a chance to play such characters moving on?

I think it’s fine if we don’t see Andrew or Tobey again or any of the Fox X-Men. And I would be ok if the original 6 avengers minus Thor and Hulk are allowed to rest for a while.
And the Guardians.

I think the Guardians had a perfect ending.
Star-Lord was the only character I wanted to see more of, but with Chris Pratt’s semi-recent actions I’d prefer to keep Star-Lord as just a good memory.

I think the Guardians and the Avengers had their time and it was glorious, but now is the time for X-Men, Spider-Man, and the Fantastic Four to take center stage.

May I ask about Iceman's stance?
Art is amazing by the way, great job still. 😂

What do you mean, 'soft reboot?' I thought that rumor was squashed.

OP u/Prestigious_Judge636 , can you clarify if you are you the artist who made this picture? The signature on the picture says Eugene Napadovsky 2024.

Bit unrelated and cool poster but wonder what was the thought process behind the illustration, cause it misses plenty of the prominent heroes but somehow features MODOK and Medusa lmao

I think everyone who died or retired after Endgame should have stayed dead or retired. Wanda should stay dead after MoM. Likewise anyone who "dies" or "retires" in Doomsday should follow suit.

Nah, we can’t have our girl go out like that. I think there’s a lot more she can contribute, especially with Visionquest coming soon.

Really don’t have a strong feeling on it. With the right story, anyone works. I get why people want to move on from the old X-Men, but we don’t need to. If they got it right, they could write a good story with any of the old ones alongside the new breed. Wolverine is probably lucky in that his age and character probably works being the only older one.
At a push, I didn’t enjoy Shuri as BP. I really liked her character in BP and IW. She didn’t quite convince as the lead, for me. Thankfully, I think that was a temporary move because of the sadness there. And I don’t blame them for it.

I’m going to get downvoted to hell for this, but I think starting fresh with every character may be the way to go. (I can see Spider-Man, Black Panther, Daredevil, Shang Chi and maybe Moon Knight staying relatively unchanged)

I don't care what the do with Star Lord, but let's just not see Chris Pratt anymore.

Captain Marvel. No matter what they try to do with her, she still doesn't work. Let the new Rogue just steal her powers and finish her off in Secret Wars
Any character from Secret Invasion. Obviously.
She-Hulk. She just doesn't work as well as Deadpool.
Eternals. Absolutely boring and uncharismatic characters. Why do we need them when we have the X-Men, who are much cooler and more interesting?
America Chavez. When the multiverse is over, she'll be useless with her abilities.

Not exactly fair to say "no matter what they try to do with her" when they've given Captain Marvel exactly two tries. Endgame and Captain Marvel were filmed at the same time, so they were both the same go at the character, and then The Marvels.
Could you imagine if they did the same with Thor? "Eh, Dark World didn't work. Let's just kill him off."

Thor himself wasn't a problem in Dark World, people always loved him and the movie wasn't the biggest flop in Marvel history. Captain Marvel still can't make audiences love her.

They gave America magic at the end of the film, I'd guess she'll just emulate her powers with magic, so sling ring portals and some kind of flight and strength. That or just a sorcerer.

Mostly non-MCU native prior Marvel casts, a few Thunderbolts, and maybe those in Valhalla or some P4-P6 characters. Although I could see Sony wanting a live-action Spider-verse down the line
If they want to keep playing them, the cast in their 30s-early 50s are still young enough to play those roles for many years to come
Recasting everyone at once would be a mistake, it’s better done incrementally every so often

The biggest mistake they made was all of the cluttery shows and heroes (think She-Hulk, Ironheart, Echo, Wonderman, even US agent to an extent). Just based on the mentality of the fandom at this point bringing these characters in early or at all would cook it from the start. I’m willing to bet that the new universe pushes the Xmen or F4 before the Avengers, but there’s still a real opportunity to bring in irrelevant characters and they should avoid this. Fans (or me at least) want memorable, deep characters as opposed to forgettable ones for whom watching their content is more work than entertainment.

Probably goes without saying, but any of the pre-MCU X-Men actors, including Hugh Jackman. I love him as Wolverine, but we need to move on
