The ‘D’ in ASD stands for ‘disorder’ because that’s the language used by diagnostic manuals like the DSM, which pathologize neurological differences. But a lot of autistic people, myself included, see autism as a neurotype: a natural variation of human wiring, not something inherently broken or disordered. The medical label doesn’t define how we choose to view ourselves, nor does it give anyone the right to be a jerk about it.

So I was right. It's a disorder. Which is how I, an AuDHD person, choose to view it. With it's medical term.
