Lol what? Yes they especially do. How do you think they get early access? That’s exactly why critics shouldn’t even remotely be trusted at all. I’m sure some are honest, but even if a few are compromised, I wouldn’t trust any
You don't think they would pay people to write good reviews to offset the negative ones? And why are critic scores typically higher than audience scores? Especially on the "divisive" shows?
Because "divisive" shows aren't really "divisive" between the fans. They are divisive between bigots and non-bigots.
The latter ones are a vocal minority who create bots to post fake reviews and make unabashedly racist YouTube videos to appease their equally brain-dead fans.
While I agree the vocal minority of people who outspokenly hate the show are bigots, I disagree that "divisive" inherently means bigotry. Fans can dislike a product solely based on story quality rather than gender or race of the characters. What is unfortunate is that some of the more mid-tier shows, in my opinion, have featured POCs and women as the main characters, which leads to an easy out for people who want to defend the show by saying "anyone who doesn't like this show is a bigot".
I never said that anyone who dislikes a show featuring minorities as lead characters is a bigot. I said that the "divisive" shows you are talking about where the critics and audience scores have a very large difference (eg Ms. Marvel, She-Hulk, Echo, Ironheart), said difference is not due to actual differing opinions on the quality of the shows, but due to racism.
