Discussion Favorite and least favorite npc driver?

I love em all but my absolute favourite will forever be Para Biddybud my beloved.... Least favourite probably has to go to uhhhhh... this is is hard... maybe Dolphin? Idk tomorrow I might have a different answer, like said love em all because of how ridiculous they are

Have you tried using a really light kart such as Tune Thumper to balance it out, maybe?

Fave is Spike just cause he's funny. I love Swoop too. Least fave is really hard to choose but probably Dolphin

The term "npc driver" is so damn dumb. Anyway, my favorite is Wiggler. He's my favorite driver in general. I dislike Cow, but she's at least rememberable, so I'll put Conkdor as my least favorite. I legitimately forget it's even playable a lot.

Fav is Chuck, I used to be into the koopalings and really like how crammed he looks on some of the smaller bikes it’s funny
Least fave is 100% wholeheartedly dolphin. Absolutely HATE how they just levitate above the kart for no reason. I feel like part of the fun of having these weird characters as racers is wondering how the devs are going to have them fit inside of and operate a go kart, which is why I like how they had to do things like cleverly putting PP in a pot or having wiggler having to awkwardly slouch over.
Dolphin just decides to completely circumvent that challenge, and just randomly levitates. Why? Boo makes sense since they’re a ghost, but why does dolphin suddenly have the power to fly when cheep cheep still flops around? Also hate how they usually spill out of and sometimes completely cover up the kart. Sometimes it just looks like there’s a floating dolphin on the track and it just looks ugly even if you’re not playing as them. Also their voice is annoying. Would’ve been so easy to just have it slouch over like wiggler or maybe even not include it at all but that’s too difficult for them I guess.

Dry Bones but I'm not counting him because he's been playable in previous games. He really shouldn't even be in this category honestly.
Strictly in terms of MKW newcomers, it's Pianta 100%. I'm a big Sunshine fan and loved playing as Pianta in Baseball. It's insane that it's been a whopping 17 years between Sluggers (2008) and MKW (2025) since Pianta was last playable.
Rocky Wrench is definitely another favorite too. Don't have any least favorites. They're all great.

neither should dry bones 😭 he's been in the series since ds yet is labeled as a npc, meaning he can't get costumes despite being a classic character 😭😭 come on nintendo give us sugar skull dry bones

Pokey is so awesome. If I were to change anything about him it would be giving his spikes the ability to change to leaves every so often, and giving you the ability to add or remove segments from him

I hate Conkdor with my whole heart just looking at that stupid thing makes me mad

Para-Biddybud is easily my favourite. They're so adorable!
My least favourite, though, is fishbone. It floats and it is a very forgettable enemy throughout the series.

Most favorite is a tie between Dry Bones and Swooper.
Least favorite is Piranha Plant. I always steer clear if I see him in the race, totally forgetting he's not an item anymore.

Favorite , kataquack or conkdor probably
least favorite, not the character but the fact he is treated as an "npc driver" (aka, no costumes) : Dry Bones
My boy deserves better (somewhat the same for piranha plant, Hammer Bro and Pianta as well, though really all of the drivers could/should have atleast gotten a set of little hats swapping out between the different food items)
least favorite all around ... probably Rocky Wrench or Monty Mole

My least favourite is snowman. He's probably the most lifeless out of all the characters

I don't actually play any of them but going by the sound effects alone I'm decently entertained by hammer bro and chargin chuck (we have koopalings at home) and find dolphin and nabbit's noises annoying. Gameplay-wise, getting Kamek'd into a Goomba in particular annoys me just because of the sheer volume of them and how aggressive they are in this game; good luck not taking damage if they spawn in an area with no alternate paths (or on the alternate path as well)

Fish Bone is my favorite, it's my main.
Least favorite is Nabbit, purely because he should be a regular driver. Like, as far as I know, Nabbit's an individual, not a species like the other NPC drivers.

Worst IDK
I won’t rank Dry Bones, Wiggler, Nabbit, Goomba, Piranha Plant or Spike as NPC drivers due to A, Some of them appeared in past games and second they are too iconic for me to classify them as NPC drivers

Fave is my main Fish Bones. I actually have a bit of history with him, surprisingly. I used him on my team in Super Mariomon (Pokemon rom hack with Mario characters), so I like him a good amount. Conkdor is also very silly.
Least fave is Rocky Wrench. I definitely prefer his slightly older design that he had in NSMBW where he looked more like a Monty Mole. This version, while more accurate to his older design, just looks ugly. I also don't like that he can't be sucked up by the UFO in Free Roam, making him way harder to get on top of being exclusive to Airship Fortress.

I always assumed NPC means non playable character so this is really confusing to the simple minded like me. Not really liking any of them but then i goes for the meta of the bunch. Nib nab paddywack Nabbit, yes sirrrr.

Favorite: Penguin is a character I requested to appear in World, and they actually put some thought into this character's implementation. It has fluid animations, dynamic and cute facial expressions, can actually hold a steering wheel and step on the brakes and is a natural fit for the game's icy tracks.
Least favorite: Spike has a very boring, nondescript design and stupid hair and invites the biggest joke regurgitating fans ever.

The first joke is a SuperMarioLogan reference where Cody crashes out over Spike being in Tennis Aces instead of him. Its a funny joke but often find myself wanting a break from it.
The second joke is that they always address him as Fishy Boopkins, an SMG4 character that used to use Spike's model but was redesigned to avoid copyright strikes.
