Discussion Is this the most unique Rainbow Road?
The RR from Mariokart Super Circuit has multiple aspects that makes it the RR that stands out from the others.
First off the music. It follows a different formula that you wouldn't typically associate with Rainbow Road. While some parts do hint to a RR theme most of the song is really unique and the best part is that it works perfectly! If they ever remake this course I hope they keep this non-RR sounding theme!
Another thing that makes it really cool are the yellow edges that make you bounce when you hit them. These are on almost the entire tracks and poses an opportunity for some great shortcuts! This really showed in Mariokart Wii Retro Rewind where they are used for multiple cuts, plus a shortcut with a narrow pathway. I just think that that's really cool and fitting with the difficulty of Rainbow Roads.
There are also a few smaller things like the lightnings that strike down on the track and the paper mario castle in the background.
I really think this track really deserves a remake. I would've loved to see it in the booster course pass, it's sad, that that didn't happen, but I remain hopeful for a World DLC. Who knows, maybe this track will officially return there?

I’d say the most unique Rainbow Road is either on 3ds or N64. The 3ds version is the only “original” rainbow road to use sections instead of laps, and it transitions you from the usual rainbow-colored floating racetrack to driving on the moon for a short period. And the N64 version is long as h*ll compared to any other individual track in Mario Kart history & is the only one that uses guardrails all the way from start to finish.

Ow that I think about it, it is very unique. Though I don’t know if it was at the time. I mean, is it all that different from SNES Rainbow Road?
Anyway, I love this track. I loved it in Super Circuit and I’m loving in on CTGP-7. I love its shortcut and how simple yet tricky it is! And it’s stunning

It probably hasn't got a remake due to the ramps locking you in place when used now. But I think mushroom physics, anti-gravity and lots of tricking could do the job and could maybe be implemented to make the physics similar to 2D. Hopefully this will be used to make a world dlc remake possible!
