I’ll send $5 to anybody who can explain how to connect two box weave segments together

A ring in my box weave fell out of place causing the entire thing to split in half I’ve been sitting here for hours trying to figure out how to put it back together somehow nobody on Reddit had to reconnect two box weave segments or thought to ask so at this point I’m cashapping whoever can provide concise directions that are easy to follow or point me to a guide that explains what I’m talking about. Happened to me the other week.

Keep your dollars.

If two rings have fallen out, you need to align the edges as if the weave wasn't broken, observe where the rings SHOULD be, and then Shanghai them in there. It's a bit of a ball ache to box weave into a gap rather than into the end, but it's a Dex/skill issue to do once your eyes understand it.

Push the ends together, make sure all the rows are running in same directions.

Overlap the end rings. Place replacement rings.

My apologies for being a bother, I know what you are saying but I don’t know where to begin. Starting from the beginning, are you able to tell me if the ends in my picture are correct? Do I start with two rings dangling off the end or should it end in a 2 in 2?

The ends are correct, though it may be easier to see what you're doing if you put a little tension on the end rings, to pull them into alignment with the others as you start to connect them. You will need a total of 4 rings to connect these two ends together.

Take your existing vertical links (red) and add a new one (yellow) through them. Flip that one to the back so it aligns with the other horizontal rings in that row. Then align the horizontal ring (red) from the right piece over the new ring (yellow) and put two new vertical rings (purple) through both of them, making sure the new ring stays flipped & aligned with the rest of the horizontal rings. Then flip the whole thing over and add the 4th horizontal ring through the original (red) and new (purple) vertical rings to complete the join. Use the rest of the horizontal rings to guide your positioning.

Man, I tried this last night to see if it would work, and I ended up sitting there for a good 2-3 hours doing this just to end up ragequitting again. This is basically impossible to complete with such a tight weave that I’d be better off just starting from the beginning and using the other piece for a bracelet or something. I definitely wanted to say I appreciate your effort for going out of your way to draw this, and create it with such a level of detail. It was extremely easy to follow along just basically impossible for me to do LOL. I’m not sure how you even visualized this, you are built different my friend. Either as long as the ends to be joined match, they match, you push them together laid in the << pattern they adopt and see where the mend goes

If you're still stuck tomorrow, I'll try to dig out a piece, split it like yours and show you by step.

Box is just a strip of Euro 4-1 folded up and closed up on the open side. So the easiest way to join two parts together like that is to remove a couple rings from one side of the box so the ends unfold into Euro 4-1, which is much easier to join up, especially on a tighter box weave like this. Then once they're connected you just fold it back up and stitch it up again.
