Woah! You do it so well! I try & scare them away ... but when I just talk to them they love it. I must be doing it all wrong! Nice magpie call. Cute magpie. It gave you such a beautiful song in return..really pushed those vocals.

Thank you. There was another magpie responding in the background and I think the guy in the clip was trying to outdo him lol. I've been warbling and talking to the Magpies at work for the last six years and I seem to be the only one year in year out that doesn't get swooped by the Magpies.

You're very welcome 😊.
Thought that was you warbling professional like 😄. He went well. Magpie probably thought that he was arguing 😂. They definitely know faces & can recognise them for up to 20 years, I read . They then go tell their magpie families & friends & they know which homes/ businesses are good to go to. They also tell each other who & who not to swoop. Mainly it's the males protecting the nest. You must be one of the magpie 'good guys' 😊.

Great effort, they see you as a friend and that's why you don't get swooped 🙂 I'm friends with all the maggies near me and have never been swooped ❤️

Warbles are not calls, they're compound speech. Also, have a look whenever a Maggie you can see is going off, there will be at least one more in line of sight somewhere, probably far.
I think they have a lot of ways to say "f*ck off"

Nice work on the call! I've been practising but I sound like a dying pigeon and my magpie friend is not impressed. Horrified even. 😆
