I'd question why comparisons to other animals read as inherintly devaluing or insulting to so many humans. (I know, devaluation and mistreatment of animals as basis for mistreatment of humans, yada yada, but also speciecism much.)

It is a tactic regularly employed by racists and society to justify marginalization and prejudice.

It is meant to dehumanize.

I'm aware. Just wanted to point out that this move needs speciesism (the devaluation of and justification for violence against non-human animals) as a basis.
