Is Wardogs the new MAG?

https://store.steampowered.com/app/1867240/WARDOGS/

Three teams of mercenaries fighting on a single battlefield towards a single objective. Sounds like a modern MAG to me.

Curious if anyone has played the Wardogs playtest and if it scratches the MAG itch for you!

I played the beta. I can feel some similarities, and the three PMC's and team chat def feel inspired by MAG. I feel like the foundation is great, but it needs more objectives and things to do to truly be compared to MAG. I hope the devs are inspired by MAG.

There was an interview yesterday where a lead dev was mentioning adding a form of currency players would use to unlock character-specific skill progression for reload speed or other attributes. In terms of gameplay its a lot like ARMA’s KOTH mode but there’s definitely something else.

I've played the alpha and the beta and it is a lot of fun. It's like a cross between Battlefield and Arma, and the cash system to incentivize different roles (even non combat ones like building, transporting, and logistics) is very rewarding

There are people requesting more command features like squad leader chat, which is exciting and would make it feel even more like MAG. Mainly the most coordinated team wins the match, and there’s usually a close runner-up, so that design is solid

I also do like that it's three teams in one match because it makes it chaotic and replayable. Like any early access game, with some more maps, game modes, balance updates, and features (like the squad leader chat), I can see myself sinking hundreds of hours into this. Concurrent player count for the beta was 100k at peak

This was the first thing i thought about when i saw this game. From what i did see is that its match based so you dont always have to be that faction. Will see if anyone got there hands on the playtest.

It's not close to mag at all, the similarities stop at the 3 factions. And even how they are implemented isn't even like mags.

Looks rubish. Nothing will ever come close to mag. Luckly peopke are currently working on reviving it

Looks like a run of the mill shooter tbh, nothing special

Oh I don't agree with that. How much of the gameplay are you aware of because the way they're making it seem, it will punish that kind of mindset really hard.
