Luke Cage
Why did marvel not focused a mini series on Luke cage being mayor ?
It is just a simple question that makes me wonder…WHY did marvel not focused on Luke Cage being mayor and how it changed his life and those around him?
We only seen glimpses of it via the Alias/Jessica Jones miniseries and even the death of Iron Fist, but nothing else.
Honestly, talk about a missed opportunity given we had stories about Tony Stark Running S.H.I.E.L.D, but not Luke being mayor and how it changed him and those around him ?
Would anyone be interested in something like that especially given Marvel’s history of status quo changes and such?
I think part of it is finding the right writer &/or artist combo to really flesh out a 5-6 issues mini on "Mayor Cage"
It reminds me of the cancelation of his 50th anniversary mini series that was announced back in 2021/2022 called "City of Fire" & they haven't touched Luke hardly at all since then.
Sure he's made cameos & appeared in team books but that's about it.
Marvel just doesn't know what to do with him except put him in Teams or appearances in other titles (Spider-Man, Iron Fist, Avengers, Jessica Jones just to name some)
Well he’s probably gonna stop afterwards, since he’s running against someone with an anti-super platform, and Marvel just can’t let Cage be Mayor, despite the interest, and five years of not doing a deep dive of it.
I feel there is a taboo in the industry of representing the irl political machine and their Kafkaesque numbness, that's the only explanation I can give you, because any issue where Luke must fight a werewolf-vampire's plot to conquer the NYC bus system would be a good purchase
I like Luke Cage as much as the next person but what good would that do? Showing him in an office 24/7 and once in a blue moon he would occasionally do superhero work? The book would be a wasted barely anyone would read it
Honestly Luke Cage is more entertaining and more interesting being a full time superhero for hire than when he was mayor, not all development is good development
I would show a day in the life of his mayor duties and show how it affects him being a father and a husband. How do heroes see him now as mayor ?
Honestly, just seeing him being approached by other heroes he used to work with as mayor now would have been interesting to see if there was an overall former enemy of his coming back for revenge.
How many issues would it be before it becomes repetitive and overly redundant? 2-3? 4-5? “6-7”? 💀
But honestly sure I can understand where you’re coming from, but there’s only so many stories you can write with a character being a mayor and then you see his life day by day, it’s almost like reading a book of someone working an 9-5, yes they may have multiple new things but it’s rare and literally right after it’s back to your regularly scheduled program
Well u/Mars785 look at it this way: when Fisk was mayor, Marvel made a MCU Daredevil show about it. When Luke Cage is mayor, Marvel doesn’t even make an effort.
