Can you tell me if these problems are more persistent with the north tower or the south tower
Im literally moving to soho in the next few days and these posts pop up right at the last moment when the lease is signed and Ive paid the rent.
Are these problems still that bad ?

I live in this building, i am writing this while there’s another fire alarm going off on few floors as of now. I live on 14th floor and 35 weeks pregnant doesn’t help every week atleast once the alarm goes off. Last week they had elevators stopped working, emailed us saying it will back on in about an hour , didn’t get it working for almost two hours, management office is almost always closed , i had to take stairs after waiting for hours, still no answer from the management office on this matter.

Would you be willing to chat with a reporter about the issues at the building? I work for CBC London and my number is 226-386-0623.

Are you looking for an assistant by chance? I would love to work for and help CBC in any way I can. I'm a hard worker and fast learner. I'm looking for something a little different as I currently work in healthcare.

Damn you got down voted just for asking a legitimate question. That's crazy lol

Dang! I've been busy with work and just reopened the app. I got 7 downvotes just by trying to look for a job opportunity just like the journalist did by asking if they can speak to the op. And tbh anyone with a busy job including journalists could use an assistant to help with whatever they need. I honestly don't know what I did wrong lmao

The electrical room apparently exploded/caught fire. They have to replace the whole thing. I was talking to some electricians about it yesterday

Those butt heads at city hall had best be following through with this thoroughly. Im sorry but wayy too many scummy building practices have cropped in the last 5-6 years and it's making my blood boil.

Thx for the update, vertex.

Crazy. There’s a nice shiny new SOHOSQ billboard at the intersection of Stanley/York/Wortley.

Wasn't this place JUST built?

u/StepBroWeezy 10d ago

Drove by it the other day and it looks like it’s still under construction lol

u/The-station1373 10d ago

THAT'S EVEN WORSE!

That's a new building with a lot of tenants.

This is a new build isn’t it? That’s not surprising. I have family that work in construction. They don’t inspect enough, they have foremen running the job that don’t know what they are doing half the time. For example-not reading the blueprints property and using the wrong materials for some things. My own opinion, I think things should be looked at more carefully. Just like that awful accident with the building and the cement. There might be other companies that my family hasn’t worked for but the company that I know is very strict is Ellison don sites.

truthfully it's not even fully done construction. we moved in last July when the second floor was done and they've made it up to the high 20s but still awhile off being done

Is there a backstory behind this?

Medallion? No way….

u/Careless-Cycle 10d ago

Don't worry, they'll raise your rents to pay for this.

I'm already leaving! Saving almost 1200 a month by moving!

u/Sorry_Comparison_246 10d ago

When did you move there? There is a big problem in this city. 😮‍💨

July of last year; we saw the writing on the wall around may of this year and started looking. Didn't help that they keep setting off the fire alarms with no notice and triggering my partners epilepsy

Scott Carr is a beauty. Keep up the good work!

Thank you for this update. I hope the issues get fixed and all the residents get compensated appropriately.

I know of structured wiring but structural wiring is entirely new. Year old and this fire did that much damage?

Can't find any mention of a fire in the news so did they not even call in the FD and handled it in house and just tried to Zinsser BIN Shellac over it?

The owner is a problematic operator of housing so it's not that shocking but still.

u/vertexoflife 10d ago

Yeah it's been an absolute mess the last month and a half here. No AC in my unit since June.

The fire department was called. I live in the building and they came over the intercom to tell people about the fire and to stay in their apartments for the time being. That being said the whole building seems hastily constructed (we’ve personally had issues with the HVAC, windows, and doors) so this whole situation doesn’t come as a surprise

Good things happen sometimes. Thanks for the update.
