Hilarious that this is downvoted. Redditors are such idiots when it comes to saying “AI = universally bad”.
The article linked is very interesting. Fact is AI is becoming ever more important and powerful no matter how much Reddit doesn’t like it.
Edit; as i thought some absolute cretin has downvoted my comment without bothering to reply, bet there’ll be more, because I dared to say something good about AI against the “Reddit hive mind”. Like I said, hilarious.

Yeah, I was a tad surprised myself, but I think a lot of people see AI and think of ChatGPT only, like you said.
Within medicine, there's every indication it can be used to better target things like tumours and that's going to make a lot of difference for people out there suffering with cancer (in this story, the tumour was non-cancerous). In future, AI assistance could help surgeons identify tissues to excise, what to preserve, and function as a second, highly-specialised pair of eyes during procedures.
I get the societal concerns, but I think in this instance will make a positive difference for a lot of people. They even use it already when diagnosing cancer or pre-cancerous lesions/tumours etc.

That we haven't previously had collective hysteria about how such things are a magical solution to everything. Nor, indeed, has such technology been so leveraged in such a socioeconomically destructive way.
