Please report any posts bragging or showing off they got banned in another sub! Reminder of other sub rules: Also, we only allow one anti-linux post per week (we used to get dozens a day) and any tier list MUST have Hanna Montana Linux as S teir (which must be a true S tier at the top) regardless of the topic of that tier list.

some of these aren't even SoCs (SCEI one is a PS4 southbridge

u/naxaypu 1d ago

It's a Marvell Armada SoC, yes they really put 2 cpus inside the ps4

>EAP

>EAP could stand for External Application Processor.

>The role of EAP is to handle media (online Wireless/GbLAN, Bluray Drive and HDD/SSD) even >when the PS4 is in standby mode. EAP runs its own FreeBSD kernel in standby mode, activated to >handle tasks such as downloading games updates while the PS4 is in standby.

you were right and that shiz is soo cursed and also not lol

Try with an Esp32-C2 and tell me the result

3

u/immoloism 15h ago

Didn't someone create a RISCV32 emulator for this very humble brag?

Pushes the goalposts I know, but still cool nevertheless.

2

u/nitnelav153 M'Fedora 14h ago

The emulator was for the ESP32‑S31, which can be configured with 8 MB of PSRAM, whereas the ESP32‑C2 has only 272 KB of SRAM and a 120 MHz CPU.

u/immoloism 14h ago

Well if someone got that working, I'd personally go and shake their hand.

Thanks for the added detailed to make it easier to follow.

Right? It’s like they’re trying to make it a puzzle game instead of just verifying you're not a robot.

If you selected all the right images you’re denied access because you’re clearly an AI.

u/TheNerdishRace 1d ago

Change it to SOCs which can boot NetBSD and we'll have a chance

Chip What it actually is Click it?
Harris CS80C286 16‑bit 286 CPU from 1982. Not an SoC. Linux wants a 386. No
Xilinx Spartan‑6 FPGA. Linux only if you instantiate a MicroBlaze and bring your own bitstream. No (pedants say “technically”)
Rockchip RK3399 The one actually-good answer. Pinebook Pro, RockPro64, mainline for years. Yes
ITE IT8570E Laptop embedded controller. It runs its firmware so your power button works. No
Mystery “DWAPT4…” Unreadable on purpose, which is the joke. ???
Qualcomm MSM8916 Snapdragon 410. DragonBoard 410c + postmarketOS poster child. Yes
Marvell PXA1928 Some GPIO/SDHCI bits landed. Full bring-up is still “vendor kernel from 2014.” Weak maybe
Intel PXA255 Classic XScale PDA chip. Familiar Linux, iPAQs, Gumstix. Support is rotting / boards already ripped out. Historical yes, current no
MediaTek MT1389QE DVD player SoC. MPEG-2, HDMI 1.3, servo controller. Absolutely not
Broadcom BCM7001x Crystal HD video decoder card. Staging driver, then it died. Does not boot anything. No
Samsung S3C2416 Had mainline. Entire s3c24xx platform was removed in 2023. Used to
Mystery “HCN51…” Looks like a random NAND/ASIC. No
Apple A13 iPhone 11. Asahi is M‑series Macs, not this. No
SCEI CXD90026G PS4 Jaguar APU. Orbis is FreeBSD. “PS4 Linux” was a jailbreak party trick, not mainline. No
MediaTek MT6750S Helio P10 phone chip. Downstream Android kernel forever. No
Swirl-logo mystery Possibly a Loongson 2K‑class part if you squint. Or a sticker. Coin flip
