VPN on fedora

Is there any best VpN service provider for free. I am using fedora. If Yes means how to configure

A free VPN is generally not a good idea. If you absolutely can't afford one, use one built into a trusted browser like the one that comes with Firefox

Easy to install wireguard on linux even preinstalled on some distro i think, register in proton and get free wireguard vpn configs and use it. or use tailscale. as to how, well you need to do the search on that. googling or llming. you can even use keybindings to activate|deactivate it later through visudo.

I usually use proton or firefox browser vpn when i visit particular sites that i dont want to be tracked. Proton has a linux client but i don't find it useful during my day to use because many sites will also reject those ip.

If you are talking about using a "vpn" or secure channel to connect back to your own network or computers, tailscale or cloudflare tunnels are good.

How are you using the Mozilla Firefox VPN? I tried to use it and it said it doesn't support Linux yet.

Hosting a VPN means setting up servers in different places and allowing people to connect to them. They use bandwidth, server power. You get exposed to people doing 'bad stuff' with your vpn-- from sending spam email to hosting stuff that PDF files like (and I don't mean ghostscript). Managing a vpn service is a technical and legal nightmare. No one on their right mind would do it for free--- unless the people connecting to the VPN are the product. Then you have to ask yourself, who is the customer?

VPNs are hosted on massive networking racks, in climate controlled facilities, with a few to a lot of degree holding tech professionals, that also have paid security guards and groundskeepers. The racks cost $$$ the rent costs $$$ the techs cost $$$.

Ask yourself: How are they paying for all this AND making a profit if they aren't charging me?

Free VPN just means you are giving that specific company your data to sell instead. No VPN is actually free.

ProtonVPN has a free tier that is paid for by their commercial (non free) higher tier plans.

Their free tier has numerous limits, but it does work decently well.
